Pletscher Dual-Leg Stand Adds Stability

Consextra fat tyres might rub.

I fitted the Pletscher dual_leg stand to my Bike Friday New World Tourist. I have not yet shortened the legs so it sits rather high but I will leave it until it shows up as a problem. The stand is well made and lighter than I expected. It was a perfect fit on the Bike Friday, which provides a stand plate with raised edges to stop rotation. I did use a shorter bolt than the one provided. The stand comes with a top plate and rubber bushes for fitting to bikes without provision for a stand (like my Surly Long Haul Trucker). I can see that the size of tyres might impede operation of the stand as I have 20x406 (1.75") Schwalbe Marathons and clearance is only a few mm when the stand is folded. There probably should be a limit screw to make fine adjustment to the range of movement. The force need to raise and lower the stand is very modest. The action is positive without being oversprung.

HI, will this obstruct my under bottom bracket front changer cable? I've not got a flat plate to bolt it onto just a short piece of tube joining the chainstays with a threaded hole in it to mount mudguards. Thanks.

Unlikely, as these clamps are just behind the BB on the chainstays so your BB-mounted cable guide shouldn't be affected by the placement of the prop stand.

Right size for 700C wheels and 285mm crank height? Feet?

Just checking I order the right size. I’ve measured 285mm to the centre of the crank. Also do you supply the correct feet - model F24?

This should work for your bike, but may require some modification as these are designed for 26" wheels.

Size Of The Bolt

Hi there,
Would it be possible to say what size/type the bolt is and if you sell bolts like this but shorter. I have bought one of these kickstands but cannot fit it until I buy a shorter bolt :(

Hi,

The supplied bolt has an M10 coarse thread and is 65mm long. We unfortunately do not have any bolts available in this thread in a smaller size. You could just cut down the supplied bolt if it is too long though.

Hi,

We have never fitted a stand to a Surly troll frame so we can't say for sure, but after looking at some images of the frame online it looks to have a a fairly normal BB/chainstay arrangement so you should be okay to fit this stand but again we can't say for 100% sure I'm afraid.

Is This Suitable For 700 Wheels

This says suitable for up to 26in, with a BB height of 290mm. My bottom bracket height is roughly 270mm, and I have 700 Wheels. Will this work for me? Will I need to cut the legs at all?

This should be suitable for use with your bike. You should not need to cut down the legs, but you may be able to if you wish.

Does This Come With The Pletshcer Deluxe Top Plate

I am looking to fit this to a Surly Long Haul Trucker (which has no plate) From the photo of the product on your site it looks as though this is supplied with the Pletshcer Deluxe Top Plate and two rubber grommets. I have been told this is ideal for fitting to the LHT although I understand the risk to chain stays if over tightened

Unfortunately we don't sell them as a separate spare but the stand comes supplied with one so will fit bikes without a top plate already installed.
