Won't last forever but works well.

Quite sturdy, fits well on a fork. One of my two cages broke, but only after 2,000-plus miles on an MTB including some pretty rough terrain. I'm happy enough that I'm going to buy another one to replace it.

And yes, the elastic does break! You can use a strap instead.

ProsCheap and sturdy
Held a standard 2 litre water bottle for over 400 miles of very rough terrain. Cannot complain.

Like others have said the elastic might not last long.

ConsElastic retainer looks a bit wimpy. Will probably swap out for some thicker bungee but no biggie.
ProsLight , low cost , functional
Needed a big bottle for touring. This fits under the seat on my recumbent with a little “finessing” and makes for a secure mount for up to 2ltr supermarket bottles. Weight stays low and central. Ideal.

ConsLimited placement positions
ProsFits a 1500ml Nalgene Silo bottle no problem.
If you are looking for a cage to hold a large (1500ml) bottle, this cage takes the biscuit. It may be light, but it is robust. To a certain extent it is adjustable for height, with no issues getting a "Standard" sized 1.5L supermarket bottle inside. This one holds a 1500ml (48Oz) Nalgene Tritan Silo bottle ... in fact it's actually a little loose but some "Gentle" bending of the cage and it fits really securely ... I use the elastic just as an extra measure ... FWIW the Camelbak Podium Cap Fits a Wide mouth Nalgene bottle perfectly

Just a word to the wise, make sure your frame can take a large bottle cage placement position is not adjustable ... Topeak do make a natty aluminium alternative position bar, that can save the day.
Good and it's adjustable.

ConsNone so far
ProsAdjustable and takes large bottles
You can adjust the height of the top.
The black collar that is on the top of the cage where the silver starts is movable. It requires some pressure but when it's pushed up you can extend or completely remove and reinsert the silver section.
Fits a nalgene

ConsDoesn’t seem very robust - TBC
ProsCheap
Needed a cage to carry a nalgene but didn’t want to spend a fortune. This takes a normal 1L Nalgene securely, plus I’ve added a strap round the bottle and frame.

Time will tell if the relatively light cage will last!

ConsTake a coil of 4mm elastic as spare with you for a world tour
ProsThe most cost-effective cage you can find out
We used it on 3 tandems for a one year crossing of South America. This cage was perfectly adaptable for 1,5 liter and 2,5 liters bottles and we got enought water to pass 3 days in complete autonomy thru the Uyuni Salar and many other desertic roads. We had to replace the elastic during the trip, but it's nothing in comparison of the help given to carry water.
Very good.

Consonly fits in one position and redrilling options limited by cutout
Prossimple and effective bottle retention, robust construction
I fitted this to our Thorn Tandem for our late summer tour and it has been a great success.
No problems with the elastic so perhaps this has been improved after previous reviews.
It would be better still if the central part of the body was continuous with more fixing holes so that it could be fitted at a range of positions to make best use of frame space and the position of the cage fixing points. The cuts through the central section seem pointless as anyone strapping or hose clipping it on can easily open up the strap or clip to pass an end through the slots away from the central section.
Needs Better Elastic

ConsBad elastic
ProsGood size
Cage itself is great, and having storage for a 1.5l bottle on the bike means more miles and fewer stops but you'll need to use a toe-clip strap or similar to hold the top half of the bottle.

The elastic lasted 5 miles.

Check you've got frame clearance for a big bottle before buying.
Useful, But Weak Elastic

ConsWeak elastic
ProsUseful
Great for touring as takes the standard 1.5 litre bottles of water that are available as standard in most shops and supermarkets. I will definitely keep this cage fitted (as well as a standard bottle cage).

After 1,000km the elastic looks ready to break and will have to be replaced somehow.

Will the bottle fit or will it be too big?
HI, we don't have a 1L SIS bottle- but I've tested this with an 800ml SIS bottle and the cage is slightly too big to hold the bottle.

Thanks, 26.03.21

Unfortunately, this is not adjustable im afraid.

What Is The Maximum Diameter Bottle This Cage Will Take?
By
16 Apr 2016
"Takes a 1.5 Litre bottle" sounds promising, but these could be long and thin. I have a 1litre bottle that has a 9cm diameter. This definitely doesn't fit into a standard cage.

If it will fit this one, you have a customer!
Hi,

This bottle cage can take larger diameter bottles as well as taller bottles and it should easily be able to cope with a bottle that is 9cm in diameter.

Thanks.
Do You Have A Distributor In The Us?
By
14 Mar 2015
I would like to purchase but $20.00 USD per cage is a touch excessive.
Hi,

I'm afraid we don't have a US distributor and there is nothing we can do about the postage prices. We get charged volumetrically for items so although this cage doesn't weigh a lot it gets classed as a higher postage bracket due to its oversized size.

Thanks.
