I recommend this product
The old insert had been dostorted by not using the proper tool, so was difficult to remove. New one fitted perfectly when fully greased, and I intend to look after this one.

I see there is another, similar insert 16620 which is a similar colour to the one I have here. Which should I order for my 2009 Sterling?
Hi, you could use either. 16620 will fit your Sterling and will allow the use of external bottom brackets if you need too.

They have a BB i.d. of 51.3mm (unthreaded) and a shell width of 69mm. Will the Thorn insert fit satisfactorily? They appear to take JIS axles/cartridge bearings. How much eccentricity is available please?
Hi,

Unfortunately this eccentric shell is too short to be used within your frame and none of our other eccentric shells match your dimensions either I'm afraid.

Thanks.
How Long Does The Bottom Bracket Have To Be?
By

I have a thorn catalyst, and the bb now has play. I can see it has to be 73mm, but what length do I need please?
Hi,

I cannot know the length for sure because it is the overall length is relevant to the cranks not the actual frame. The cranks that would have come as stock on your bike have long been discontinued but as far as I'm aware they were designed around a 110mm bb but I can't say for definite.

Thanks.
