ProsLook good, easy to fit and when you change the pads good brake modulation.
I used this as a rear brake for a restoration of an old Mercian. Excellent brake that works very well. One thing I would recommend is changing the pads as the ones supplied are poor. Easy to set up and once the pads change good modulation and power. Bearing in mind that all my other bikes (5 of them) run hydro discs - I find these more than adequate to the task. I don't notice a huge amount of flex.

What is the length of the fixing bolt? I want to check it will fit through my fork. Thanks
By

Hi
Thank you for your enquiry. This brake is supplied with two bolts, the length of these, not including the head are 45mm & 60mm. I hope this helps.
Kind Regards. JP 15/05/23
It's a longer straddle cable available?
By
01 Aug 2020
On a mixte frame, the brake is behind the seat tube, and the straddle cable needs to be long enough to be in front.
No, use a barrel brake inner ana a Solderless Barrell Nipple on the other end (SJS Cycles part number : 25953) RT 03/08/2020

Do you stock a longer fixing bolt for the Dia Compe 750?
I have one I would like to mount to a tricyle but the fixing allen bolt I have is too short to go through the fork crown
Hi there,

Unfortunately we do not have one that is longer im afraid.

Thanks.

STI levers compatibility

I would use these brakes with Shimano Tourney ST-A073 levers. Are they compatible?
Hi, no you need side pull cantilever brakes. Thanks
Do these brakes come with the hanger/main cable clamp that the straddle wire hooks over?

Hi there,

Yes these parts are included.

Thanks
Hi. Can i use these brakes with 50 mm. Gilles Berthoud mudguards? Regards

Hi there,

The biggest guards that would fit would be 45mm, unless you modified the guards by bending them in slightly.

Thanks

Dawes Super Galaxy rear break. I have now got 700cm Wheels fitted. The Rear break shoes are very close to the tyre wall. Would the 750 have a longer reach so they are more inline with the rim.
Hi,

It will obviously depend upon the drop of the current brake that you have fitted, but these Dia-Compe 750 brakes do have an extra long drop so hopefully would be long enough to line the brakes up in the correct position.

Thanks.
Straddle Cable Query
By
16 Aug 2016
The straddle cable looks to have a barrel nipple on both ends - presuming this means that there is no clamping method included on either arm, could you please let me know the length of the included straddle cable (so I can figure out whether it'll clear the seat tube of the mixte frame to which I'm hoping to attach the brake)?
Hi,

The straddle cable supplied with this brake is 105mm in length.

Thanks.
Efficiency Of Single Pivot Sidepull Vs Centrepull Caliper Brakes
By
07 Jul 2016
- I recently ordered some DC classics brakes because they had a drop of 79mm. But I am trying to get away from single pivot side pull. Would this centre pull for my vintage Peugeot refurbed bike needing the max drop brake operate more efficiently with centrepull brakes? There don't seem to be any dual pivots with that kind of drop. Are they simple to fit or would other adjustements need to be made? Thanks
Hi,

There are very few dual pivot calipers with such a long drop as they usually end up being quite flexible at this length so companies normally avoid it. A centre pull brake like this will fit in a similar way the only issue you may have is in the cable routing.

Thanks.
Dia Compe 750 Brakes
By
15 Jul 2015
Hi again,
Your reply to another person on 16th June states that this brake caliper now comes with a longer bolt for fitting to the front. Is this still the case?

Thanks Richard
Hi,

I'm sorry for being mis-informed in my previous reply to yourself. These brakes do now come supplied with a second longer bolt to allow for fitting to front forks with a nut rather than recessed allen key bolt.

Thanks.
Dia Compe 750 Brakes
By
15 Jul 2015
Hi there,
I am restoring my 1970's Holdsworth Super Mistral Road bike, which currently has DiaCompe levers and Weinmann Vanqueur 750 calipers. The drop from mounting holes to centre of rim brake surface is 65mm. Would the DiaCompe centre pull 750 calipers you have listed be suitable? Current brakes are attached with a nut to end of mounting bolt.

Thanks Richard
Hi,

This brake should definitely be suitable for use on the rear of your bike, but you may need to fit a longer bolt to one to be able to use it with a nutted fitting on the front of your bike.

Thanks.
Front Dia Compe Front Hex Nut?
By
14 Jun 2015
Hi,
I am looking to replace my front centre pull brake from my 1980s Dawes Galaxy, the Dia Compe 750 seems to have the drop, but I require a hex nut fitting for the front. Does the Dia compe 750 have a nut fitting for the front?
Hi,

These Dia-Compe brake now come with a longer bolt supplied as well to allow you to fir these brakes with the nutted fitting on the front of older bikes.

Thanks.
