We would have no way to tell without testing and we do not have a suitable brake to do so.

Re Shimano Deore V Spring Tension Adjustment Screw

I have an avid single digit 5 V brake with adjustment screws of the type above that are worn on the heads and so making it difficult to adjust the spring tension and get the right balance.

Rather than having to replace the whole brake would this spare part be compatible to help me get some more use out of the brake.

Any advice you could give would be much appreciated and I will place an order if the part is suitable.

Unfortunately we do not know if this Shimano bolt will fit the Avid Single Digit 5, the tech sheet does not show what size it is & we do not stock the v-brake so we cant check it. However we can source the Spring Kit for this brake which includes the adjusting bolt (its not sold separately), the price for this is £13.99. If you wanted to go ahead with this you will need to give us a call on 01278 441500 as it will be a special order.
