Also fits rack for Sunstar battery pack

I bought these to repair the battery rack for our Pino tandem which has a Sunstar pedelec attachment. These Tortec ones are the closest I could find, although they have a much larger offset than the broken one I was replacing. Happily there is sufficient adjustment in the fitting that I was able to do a perfect repair, by drilling two extra holes in the rack base. Thank you SJS!

Difficult to mount without creating stress points leading to fatigue failure

ConsDifficult to mount and prone to fatigue

ProsFits the rack which is a very good rack

Works but prone to fatigue after a few thousand kilometers. Need to take special care not to stress the brackets at all during installation - difficult because the mounting lugs are not square to the mounting point on by bike if mounted as shown in the marketing photos. I am now on my 3rd set of these brackets in about 8000km.

ProsWell made fair price well thought out item.

A well made fitting kit, good finish very happy with this allowed me to fit my old rack. They cover a wide range of mounting points - swapping left to right & switching the mounts inner to outer, I think this kit would cover most racks.

Diameter of the curved fixing rod/stays please.

I have purchased Tortec racks from you before and have found that the rod/stays supplied are too curved to fit the seat stay spacing on some bike frames so I have manufactured dead straight rods. I thought of fitting the straight Tubus (8mm Diam) or Brompton stays.

What is the Size of the Bolts that are used for mounting the Stay Clamps to a Rack?

Can you give me the diameter of the threaded section also please?

Does Tubus use the same size?

The top bolts, which secure the item to the rack are M4.

Could I possibly fit these to a Carradice Expedition rack?

I'm looking to add some additional support to my Carradice Standard Expedition rack and wonder if these could possibly connect to the rails? At one time Carradice offered a method of support that connected from the rack to the seat stays, but i have been unable to locate a source. Now I'm shopping for alternatives. Thank you in advance.

Could I Make These Tortec Fixings Work With A Topeak Explorer Rack?

With a vice and a hammer I managed to bend my original Topeak fixings to hold my rack in place. I want to move the rack to another bike now and these TorTec fixings look like they would be far easier to use. If I have to drill out the holes on the rack or cut the fixings to length that would be fine. The rack will be going on a Specialized Diverge road frame.

Although we have never tried this exact combination so can't say for sure the fittings are similar enough so that it should be fine to use these with your Topeak rack.
