Made from tough 8 mm alloy rod, the Tour's design includes an offset stay, providing ample support for your panniers. This very popular rear rack incorporates a solid central plate to act as a mudguard. It includes long fitting brackets, which offer generous adjustment for a truly universal fit, plus a rear reflector / light plate.

I am keen on this rack as it is made from 8mm dia. tube - my panniers need that size.

however, I need to know that it has at least 36cm clearance beween the bottom fixing and platform - this has to clear the mud guard.

Whats The Distance Between The Seat Stay Fittings?

I have a saracen helix hybrid, early model, non disc brake. The bolt holes for the lower fixing points are on the internal side of the seat stays, the measurement between the seat stays at this point in 127mm. Some racks i have seen are far too wide, would the rack lower arms need to be squeezed together much to fit?

The spacing between the mounting holes on this rear rack is 130mm so it should be fine to be mounted inside of the frame on your bike.
