The Tara is Tubus' longest standing low-rider model. For 18 years it has been their best selling front carrier. It has been improved over time, making it even more solid. This is the most durable Tubus low-rider. Its simple shape and variable mounting allows it to fit to even the most diverse forks. When used in combination with the Cargo, Tara is the perfect match for long travel biking. Separate eyelets for mudguard mounting are also included. For the fat tyre section, Tubus also offer the Tara Big Apple.

ProsSimple and light weight

The rack itself is a simple, clever and low weight design however I hadn't realised that it was 16mm tubing so didn't fit my ortleib setup. The lower fork mount also didn't work on my old diamondback mountain bike forks so things didn't really work out for me with this rack. There are a bunch of adaptors Tubus does (QR skewer if don't have bottom fork mount, and mid fork clamp if don't have mid fork brase-ons) to solve some mounting difficulties. Also ortleib have a 16mm hook kit for these fatter racks. With a bunch of fiddling you would most likely get something to work on most setups but may be compromising rack strength. Unfortunately these racks just weren't to be for me but I could imagine would be great for the right bike setup.

can the Tubus Tara fir 140mm wide drop out?

My carbon forks have the correct upper bosses but the lower fork ends are fatter and need a 140mm spacing

I cannot confirm if this will fit your fork, I would check with your fork manufacturer as most carbon forks are not designed for lowriders, the mount on the mid fork position are an alternative location for mudguard mounts. SK 27/03/23

Can this be used with 700c / 29" wheels

I understand that 29" wheels are the same as 700c. I se this rack advertised (on other sites) as fitting 700c, but then stating 26" - 28".
I have a Specialized Sequioa and it has 29" wheels. Any advice appreciated.

This rack was originally designed to fit to forks that have braze-on mounts, but if you were to use a set of clamp fittings then it may work on a fork without braze-on mounts.
