The Acolyte 8-speed, 12-42T cassette gives you all the range you need to challenge yourself. Whether you're climbing the Cascades or the neighborhood sledding hill, all you have to think about is where to put the bike - Acolyte will take care of the rest. And yes, it works with a standard HG freehub body and a normal 8-speed chain.

Shimano Alivio RD-M410

Would my Alivio RD-M410 with hanger extender cope with this cassette, or am I pushing it a bit there?
Otherwise what do you reckon would the maximum be it could take?

Thank you for your enquiry. The RD-M410 has a range of 11-34T on a rear cassette, it would most likely be able to go up to 11-40T but this cassette maybe too large although its not one that we have tried.
