Made from 7075 T6 heat treated aluminium sheet, cut in the traditional manner on a lathe which produces a much better and more accurate tooth form than the pressing method which is used by most other chainring manufacturers.

The teeth are higher and the deeper groove eliminates chain suck.

The ring thickness has been increased from 3.5 to 4.0mm. This strengthens the area which is ramped to best effect.

For 9/10 speed.

ProsEasy to fit, well engineered

Bought this ring to lower gears on a bike I've been renovating. Though I was told it was designed for 10-speed, so far it's working excellently on a 5. TA has never been anything but well-made.

Can I use this chainring with a 6 speed transmission?

I assume that the chainring is compatible with a 6 speed transmission as your reviewer is happy with his matching a 5 speed.

SJS Customer Service:

This is for 9/10 speed, as our reviewer states, they got it to work fine on 5 speed, so based on that alone and not our experience, it may be worth a try.

Hi,

This chainring will take an 11spd Shimano chain without any issues but uses a different fitting to all of Shimano's 11spd chainsets so you will need to check it will fit your chainset or not.

Hi,

Providing your chainset is the compact option (so uses the 110mm BCD 5-arm fitting) then this chainring will fit okay, it is unlikely to shift as perfectly as the original Shimano one though.
