SJS Customer Service:
Hi there,
Yes, it is compatible with your 2019 Brompton. Unfortunately, we do not have any without a chain guard I'm afraid.
Thanks.

lower gears on a brompton?
By Brian Heatley

Do you stock a 38 teeth or even lower chainring that will fit a Brompton Spider arm? This one won't get me quite as low as I would like.
SJS Customer Service:
Hi there,
Any of our 130mm BCD 5 arm chainrings should work fine. However we have never tried this so we cannot say for certain.
Thanks.

hi, is there a smaller chain ring that will fit the brompton 2013 onward spider

40 or 38 perhaps
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,
As the Brompton spider uses the standard 130BCD sized fitting there are plenty of aftermarket options that would fit and work. The only downside with the aftermarket options is that they won't have the chainguard. The one we recommend is SJSC part number 11055.
Thanks.

SJS Customer Service:
Hi,
The chain will need to be reduced by two links to be the correct length for use with a 44T chainring instead of 50T.
Thanks.

Make It Easier To Pedal Up Hill?
By Greg Haigh

I have a 2013 Brompton with 6 Speed Standard gears. I just want to confirm that this is the chain ring I need to make it easier to ride up hill? Will I need to adjust the length of the chain too?

SJS Customer Service:
Hi,
To gain a lower gear all you need to do is run a smaller chainring like this one. If you are dropping to a 44T ring on a 6spd then you will require a chain that is 98 links long.
Thanks

Brompton Chainring Guard for Spider Crank 44T on a Charge Grater 2.

SJS Customer Service:
Hi, unfortunately this will not fit the Charge Grater 2 as the chainset BCD is different. The Brompton chainring needs to fit to a crankset with a 130mm BCD, the Charge crankset has a BCD of 110mm so they would not be compatible. Regards, Jamie
