Used with ZTTO 8 Speed 11-40 Cassette on a utility bike. Now done 700 miles and really pleased. So happy that the utiility bike is now my main bike.

I recommend this product
It seems to fit exactly as described and do its job quietly and without fuss. There is a slight buzz on the chain but I expect that will quickly settle as any tiny surface imperfections are worn smooth.

I recommend this product
I am completely satisfied with the workmanship and quality of this crankset. I installed it in 2015 on a Raleigh comfort bike with a Shimano Nexus 8 speed internal shifting hub, so it is equivalent to a single speed application. I like the 33 tooth chain ring because the lower gearing helps on very steep hills, typical of my normal ride. I ride several time a week for about an hour per ride.
Even after 4 years of use there is little, if any, distortion wear on the chain ring teeth.
Good quality for the price

ConsFinish is OK, but good for this price point.
ProsDoes everything that I was looking for with clearances.
Happy with the purchase. Fits the retro bike well and clears the chain guard. The offset in the crank arm also clears the chain stays nicely. Steel chain ring finish leaves a bit to be desired, but runs true. Polish on alloy arms is good enough for the purpose.
If you are after a crank set to use on a retro styled bike matched with a period chain guard, then you can't go wrong with this.

Prosworks
straightforward steel chainring and alloy cranks. Chainwheel showed burrs from being blanked out, suggesting not a lot of effort at finishing, but it's true and works fine.

I need to achieve a chain line of 43mm. What width JIS BB spindle do I need
By

My bb shell is 68mm wide.
You will need a 118mm bottom bracket p/no - 53141s118 SK 15/11/24
Can I use crank bolts with this?
By
14 Jun 2022
I'm replacing a worn 7-speed single 44T chainring. My BB axle takes crank bolts. Would something like Jtek M8 Crankset Bolts fit these cranks?

Or can you suggest an alternative chainset that would work? Thanks.
Thank you for your enquiry, yes M8 crank bolts will be fine.

Best Italian thread BB for this crankset
By
07 Sep 2020
What Italian thread BB could work for this crankset, considering a 42.5mm chainline? though, the chainline is not that accurate, as it is from another single speed from which I'm going to take the wheels off to put on the Italian frame I need this crankset and the BB for.
Since I have only the bare frame, I don't have any measurements to take.
I'm afraid without any kind of measurements we could not advise.

What BB?

Hi, I'm planning to convert my old road bike to single speed with this https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/gear-spares/mwave-single-speed-conversion-kit-for-shimano-w-14-16-18t/ and this chainset. Can you advise which BB i should use? Currently I have a Shimano hollowtech, I know I need a square taper, but not sure what axel length? Thanks.
probably 122.5mm (Gives 45mm chainline) but this is not an exact science.

Yes, but you may need a chain retention device.

Can I use this chainset on a Brompton 3 speed
By
07 May 2019
Brompton b/b (JIS) is 119mm, we say about this - Axle length = 131 mm (Gives 52mm chainline)
122.5mm (Gives 45mm chainline) so probably on a Brompton chainline is 42mm so 119 might well work, i'm afraid the only way to know is to fit it...sorry.
what does it weigh?
By
07 Aug 2017
what is the weight of the 46T version?

if substituting for a different single crankset do I have to worry about chainline?
Hi, the weight is 820g. Chain line needs to be considered, your current bottom bracket axle may be the correct length. Thanks.
What Bottom Bracket Do I Need To Maintain Chainline For Nexus 8Spd Hub Gear.
By
16 Oct 2016
I am considering the m-wave single speed chainset to replace my worn out 10 yr old Shimano nexus chainset. This is for a bike with Shimano nexus 8spd hub gear, which I think has approx. 135mm OLN distance.
Hi,

With this chainset you'll need a 122.5mm bottom bracket to get the closest chainline to suit your Nexus 8spd hub.

Thanks.

Can I use this on a 1 x 7 setup? or will it only work with a singlespeed chain?
Hi, it's 3/32 and yes you can run a 1 x 7 setup. Thanks
