ProsEverything about it
A great piece of kit. On my Wiggle Brand-X road bike it works well with a 68x110 bottom bracket, the front derailleur needing the tiniest of adjustments to get all gears changing very smoothly.

I recommend this product
ConsWeight, but it has steel chainrings
ProsPrice, looks, modern BCD dimensions
If you want square tapper compact crankset with 175 mm cranks, there are not many options, but you really don't need anything better than this. Looks great, bit on the heavy side, that one bolt is under the crank arm, but in all this is great buy.
Very Good Value

Is this for 9, or 7/8 speed chains?
By
28 May 2023
As in the details is says 7/8 speed, but in specifications it says 9 speed? I'm looking to replace a Shimano FC-R345 crankset with these.
Hello & thank you for your enquiry.
These chainsets are designed for use with 7 and 8spd chains, so we would not recommend using a 9spd chain with this chainset. WEb data will be amended accordingly.
Kind Regards, PC 30/5/23.
Would this be suitable replacement for shimano claris 8 speed.

Fitted onto a 2015 specialised allez.
Without knowing the FC code of your current chainset i cannot confirm this.

Suitable as a replacement for existing Prowheel 7spd 50/34t compact chainset with 120mm BB?
By
05 Jul 2019
I’m hoping to upgrade the rather basic Prowheel 7spd 50/34t compact chainset on my new Brand-X road bike and am wondering if this SJS Alloy Compact chainset (SJSC part number: 31096) would be suitable in terms of bottom bracket…

The existing Prowheel chainset’s BB is, as accurately as I can measure it without actually removing it from the frame, 120mm, and gives a chainline of 43.5mm up front (measured from centreline of seatpost to midway between the small/big rings. Meanwhile the rear is 43mm).

Would your chainset, in conjunction with the recommended 110mm BB, still give a chainline close to my existing set-up, or would you recommend a longer or shorter length BB?

Many thanks
Although chainline seems to be an exact science, it isn't! The only answer I can give is PROBABLY this chainset and a new 110mm JIS square tapered bottom bracket SHOULD be fine, the only way to know if it's ok is to fit it. Sorry. RT 05/07/19
Suitable replacement for a Prowheel 2x7 compact chainset?
By
02 Jul 2019
My new Brand-X road bike is currently equipped with a Prowheel 2x7 50/34t compact chainset with a BSA 68mm square tapered BB and what seems to be a 120mm spindle length and a front chainline of 43.5mm (I haven't removed the existing BB to check, but careful measuring would suggest the spindle is 120mm).
Would this SJS chainset be a suitable replacement, and would my existing BB also be ok...or should that also be replaced, and with what?

Many thanks

BCD

Hello, can you advise the BCD of this chainset please? It's a great piece of kit for the price but I might want to fit a larger inner ring (40T probably). Thanks
Hi, it is 110 BCD. Thanks
compatible with Shimano CN-HG40 6/7/8 SPD chain - hoping to use with 6 speed cassette.

We have never tested whether this would be compatible.

Thanks
I have a shimano BBUN 53 68/110 bottom bracket will the bolts i have fit these crankarms

Yes they should fit fine.

Thanks
Will this fit a Campy 102mm bb. If not what needs to be done. Thanks

Hi,

This chainset unfortunately will not fit on your bottom bracket. This chainset requires a 110mm long bottom bracket that uses the JIS type of taper where as your Campagnolo bottom bracket uses the other ISO type of taper as well as being too short at 102mm. You will need to purchase a new JIS type bottom bracket to be able to fit this chainset.

Thanks.
Would This Be Compatable With 9 Speed Chain?
By

Hi,

These chainsets are designed for use with 7 and 8spd chains, so we would not recommend using a 9spd chain with this chainset.

Thanks.
110 Or 110/74?
By
03 Oct 2016
Any chance this crank is 110/74PCD, without an inner chainring? I ask because in the picture I think I can see a little bulge (on the left-most arm) suggesting the presence of an inner set of threads. Thanks.
Hi,

Although it may look as though there are tabs for an inner ring there is not any threads there so an inner chainring cannot be fitted I'm afraid.

Thanks.
Additional Question About Single Chainring
By
19 Jul 2016
Hi,
Thank you for prompt reply!

Could you tell which p/n bolts set should I use for:

Q: Can I use it with removed small 34T chainring using existing bolts or should I purchase another bolt set to to attach 50T chainring to the crank without 34T?

A: You would need to purchase a new set of single ring specific bolts if you were planning to run only one of the chainrings.

Best regards,
Andrew
Hi,

A set of basic chainring bolts are SJSC part 27234, just select the single option from the drop-down menu.

Thanks.

Hi,
Could you answer some questions?
1. Chainline if use 110mm BB JIS?
2. Is it suitable for 3/32 chain?
3. Can I use it with removed small 34T chainring using existing bolts or should I purchase another bolt set to to attach 50T chainring to the crank without 34T?
4. Please confirm the pedal thread is 9/16
Hi,

The chainline in the outer position with a 110mm bottom bracket would be 50mm. The chainrings on this chainset are indeed suitable for a 3/32" chain. You would need to purchase a new set of single ring specific bolts if you were planning to run only one of the chainrings. The Pedal thread is indeed 9/16".

Thanks.

Hi, Would This Chainset Be Compatible With A Carrera Tdf
By

Hi,

Yes as far as I'm aware this chainset would be compatible with that bike, providing its still using a square taper bottom bracket.

Thanks.
