Details
The latest addition to the Grand Tour range, the Grand Tour 46/30 is a sub-compact double crankset designed to be both beautiful and resilient. Every component including crank arms, chainrings, pins and fixings are proudly made in Britain using the finest materials, including 7050 and 7075 grade aluminium and 316 stainless steel. Machined using the latest CNC technology, with the 'grain' of the material aligned for maximum strength. The finish on the dust caps and chainring bolts are PVD-coated for an authentic brass accent and signature look (also available in raw steel). All of the Chater-Lea cranksets are anodised to enhance protection.
Dimensions:
- Crank Arms: 170mm

- Q Factor: 142mm
- Requires JIS square taper bottom bracket with 113mm spindle length
- Total Weight: 668g
Materials:
- Anodised aluminium 7050 T7451 (crank arms)
- Anodised aluminium 7075 T6 (chainrings)
- 316 Stainless steel (nuts, bolts, dust caps and shift pins)
Finish:
- Machined aluminium (crank arms and chainrings)
- Machined steel (nuts, bolts, dust caps and shift pins in PVD finish)
PVD Coating:
Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) is a process utilising powerful magnetic fields to apply an extremely uniform and ultra thin coating to a component. Chater-Lea's PVD coating is a super hard, corrosion resistant layer of Titanium Nitride around 2 microns thick. The PVD process vaporises the Titanium Nitride allowing it to be electrically applied to the component with extreme adhesion. It is in fact nearly as hard as sapphire, itself second only to diamond in hardness.
