Boost hub standard dynamo for 15mm thru-axle, 110 mm width. Its symmetric hub flanges of equal diameters help to lace wheels more easily. Also wheels become stiffer and more loadable.

ConsNot cheap, but you get what you pay for

ProsSeemingly completely reliable

We have used quite a few Schmidt dynamo hubs in our wheel building over the last few years. Not a single one has had any reliability issues that we know of and warranty returns have been zero.

ConsNot even the cost - money well spent!

ProsOnly the best, boost spacing, 36 spoke, 15mm thru axle, will make a bomb proof wheel

I am a big fan and this is my second one of these. First is on a Rohloff equipped fat bike which is an awesome combo. And this one, boost spaced, 36 spoke with 15mm thru axle. This will build an indestructible wheel on a velocity Dually rim. This in turn will go onto a Rockshox Pike 29er . Hope I’ve convinced you that this is an awesome set up and given you a hint at the ultimate wheel build for 29er . These hubs are a perfect place to start and I had no doubts going for this for an aggressive setup due to SON’s reputation!

Can I use it with R&M Birdy Touring (Birdy 3) of 2020 model? It has disk brake on the right side. Thanks.

Yes, if you are not connecting a headlamp, you'll just need 2 x Wurth Cable Connector Red Insulated 4.8mm x 0.5mm Female (SJS Cycles part number : 2870) RT 11/12/19
