Details
The Igaro D2 Pro R3 is a dynamo hub USB power converter that offers superior performance and features in a miniature form-factor. Use the Igaro D2 Pro R3 with any STVZO 3W dynamo hub and charge your USB devices on your next Audax challenge, around-the-world tour or commute to work.

This final revision comes with two USB-C ports, both with Igaro's auto-reconnect technology for enhanced power delivery. It also introduces maximum power point tracking for superior output with lower hub drag. Blue and red lights indicate the status of each USB-C port including how much power a connected USB device is consuming.

Riders will appreciate the robust all metal body and IP69 waterproof rating (however do not allow water to enter the USB ports - all USB ports corrode when wet and there is no way to avoid this). The Igaro D2 Pro R3 is made for long-term use and it works at any speed, generates no heat and comes with a 5 year international warranty.

ConsPower not shared between ports
ProsVery efficient
Your site shows:
Specification:
- 2.5A maximum (shared between USB-C ports)

That lead me to believe that port 1 would provide power to the connected device and that whatever was left would go to port 2. That is not how it works.

Only one port is powered at a time. I have an older GPS device that will only charge at 500mA. A power bank plugged into Port 2 receives no power until I unplug the GPS from Port 1. A lot of power therefor goes to waste when riding at higher speeds and charging my GPS.

Even with devices that charge at higher rates, once they are fully charged and just consuming their operating power, nothing goes to Port 2, unless you unplug Port 1.

It is also disappointing that it is not able to do anything with excess power when a light is turned on when riding at speeds above those required to fully power the light.

Despite the above limitations, it is exceptionally efficient and kept all my devices charged on a recent 1200km Audax event.
SJS Customer Service:
Please note that the charger will supply two ports once the appropriate speed / output from the dynamo has been reached, if USB slot 1 is drawing too much power then the second port is disabled (As noted in the Igaro D2 manual.) SK 31/05/24
Not for me (slow tourist)

ConsSporadic power at my typical speeds: limited instructions
ProsSmall: USB-C port: 2 output ports
on a 5 hour 90 K trip where my average speed was 16Kph and most time 20K it barely charged a iPhone 13 mini with recent battery.
Suspect just not tuned for slow-quick-slow speeds.
It really works!

ProsPerformance, smart charging, tiny size/weight. Massive warranty!
After suffering a second USB-Werk failure I researched for something a bit more professional and came across the Igaro D2. It's been hooked up to my RX100VI, a headtorch and a USB rechargeable front light (so that I don't need a dynamo light) and has performed flawlessly. I also looked at sinewave and klite but those have less performance and are only 1yr warranty while the D2 is 5yrs! To me that says something about the company and product. It was an easy choice.
Great!

ProsEverything!
It kept an iPhone 12 mini and a headtorch in the second port charged during a Outer Hebredes tour in mid Jan. I can report it works in -10c and at 68kph!

It's a big upgrade from my old D1. I appreciate it's very tiny size while still delivering great performance. Being able to charge one device after the other is a neat feature.
Outstanding in all areas

ProsPerformance, features and convenience, size, build quality
I purchased this version when it first released and having had a few from other manufacturers can say Igaro are operating at the top now and nothing else comes close at this price point. Yes it's expensive but value wise it's far ahead. Like a Brooks saddle you pay more but you know it'll do the job well.

The product is mature both in performance and features. I don't fully understand all the technical jargon on their website but do know that it charges my new Pixel 6a phone in half the time that it has been doing with the klite (that I'm retiring).

I _really_ love that it automatically begins charging my powerbank only when my phone is 100% charged and how I don't have to unplug anything when I switch the dynamo light on in the evening. Dynamo power is about convenience and Igaro have developed the D2 with that in mind. They've nailed it!

Is the dynamo cable and piggy back crimps included?
By

Hi
Thank you for your enquiry. The cable from the Igaro to the hub is included however there are no connectors as it would depend on whether you were using a SON hub or SP, Shimano etc which have a different style of connector. If you require piggyback connectors then you will need our item number 28876 & the shrink tubing on item 41991 as well.

is this better if charging USB C device?
By

Hello,

I currently have a Sinewave Revolution hooked up to a Son 28.

I recently bought a new phone, which is USB C on both ends.

As the Igaro accepts a USB C cable, will it charge the phone noticeably quicker than the Sinewave, which will not accept a USB C cable (all other things being equal e.g. speed etc)?
The charging is unaffected, USB C is a more common plug found on leads thus more future proof.. SK 07/12/23
