ProsWell made product
This attaches neatly to my Son Edelux II front light and to my rear light. I really like the outer sheath to protect the cable and provide longer life.

Consyou have to manage making teh rear connections
Prosdesigned to do thejob properly
If you want to connect a tail light to a Schmidt dynohub & front light, this is the proper way to do it. The only slight faf is that you have to manage crimping or soldering the rear light connectors.

When should this overvoltage protection wire be used
By
12 May 2021
Is this product for specific cases where a rear light is not plugged into Hub. My understanding was that the Edelux II lights provided overvoltage protection to the rear lights.

In what scenarios should this product be used?
You are right, Edelux II has internal overvoltage protection same as
most LED headlights have.

The rear light cable with overvoltage protection was designed long time
ago when headlights had 2.4 Watt halogen bulbs and rear lights had 0.6
Watt bulbs.
Once a halogen bulb was blown the rear light would get too much power
and blow as well. There are next to no bicycles with this setting now.
This is why we stopped producing this item.

Please note rear light must not be connected o hub dynamos directly. In
this case even LED rear lights will receive to much power and they will
be damaged.
