The most common point of failure if you are using a SON front light and a rear Dynamo light is the 2.8mm spade connector shorting out against the body of the headlight:
The way to resolve this is by fully insulating the spade connection using heat shrink, so if it does make contact with the side of the headlight housing, it does not make electrical contact.
