Which headset to use with Fyxation forks?
By Xav

My head tube is straight (not tapered). Its internal diameter is 44mm top to bottom. It has no internal beveled/machined edges.
The outside diameter of the head tube is 60mm. The top and bottom are flat. Which headset, (external, internal or integral) should I use with these forks?

SJS Customer Service:
With a straight 44mm headset, you could use the Tapered fork steerer, you can use the straight too.
With the tapered, we would use - SJS Cycles part number : 53945
With the straight, use the SJS Cycles part number : 53945 + SJS Cycles part number : 45703

1. Can you tell me the outer diameter of the crown (not the crown ID, but the top edge of the fork itself? I want to match it to the bottom diameter of my head tube.
2. Are these forks good for bikepacking/touring?

Manufacturer Reply:
The Sparta Alloy Steer measures 56mm and the Sparta FCR measures 57mm.
These are designed for bike packing and have triple mounts on the fork legs designed for light loading with gear cages or water bottle cages (3kg/side). We don't recommend using racks (mid mount or lower mount) as loading could be excessive, so while the fork can be used for touring, we don't recommend loading it up with panniers. We do have lower eyelets for fenders
