Poor quality product - great customer service!

ConsPoor engineering and super-expensive
ProsClose ratios, low 32T sprocket
I bought this freewheel for its close ratios and 32T low gear, which aren't offered by other manufacturers.
It was making odd noises from the start, but in less than 1,000 miles it was making such loud, intermittent clunking sounds that eventually I was anxious about taking the bike out on the road. Looking on the web, other users seem to have had similar - or worse - experiences.
After replacing it with a Shimano MF-TZ500 (also from SJS) I contacted them with details of the problems. They gave me a full refund in less than 24 hours.
Moral - avoid this product, but stick with SJS!
Very disappointing

Initially reluctant to purchase because of the high price, but wanted the lower gearing for my '79 TREK/6-speed. Ran the first one for less than 800 miles before catastrophic failure with the races coming loose and bearing falling out while on a long ride... ended up carrying the bike home. Rear wheel would hardly roll. Contacted SJS who, as usual were very helpful and sent me a replacement within a couple of days. However, on third ride of second freewheel, I noticied a pronounced clicking and upon inspection, the races were in fact, getting loose. Contacted SJS who refunded my money. Great, great customer service. I ended up buying a bog standard Shimano 13-28 and all is good... again.

I recommend this product
ConsInitially high price, others might emerge.
ProsIt works (nice smooth changes), looks and sounds well.
This was used to replace a shimano freewheel on one of my stock of 30 year-old Mavic hubs sothat I knew it would fit. Someone might find this info useful. It was nice to find a suitable ready- made set of sprockets (13-26) to give a slightly lower gear from the previous biggest of 24. Some value judgments will be made after much use (value for money for instance).

I want to replace an old 5 speed 14 28 sun race free wheel with 3cm stack height with better gearing for hills. What is stack height of this free wheel?
Hi there,

The stack height of this cassette is approximately 3cm.

Thanks.
