currently 14-28 teeth
will this affect gear changing
will this affect gear changing
SJS Customer Service:
Hi, I'm not sure what your are asking. The MFTZ500 freewheel is 14-34. Your current derailleur might not cope with the change from 28 to 34 teeth. Your chain may need to be longer too. Thanks

Thanks
SJS Customer Service:
None of the information provided relates to whether this would fit or not, you also mention a cassette but this is a freewheel. We would need to know about the rear hub, derailleur and what is currently fitted.

Will The Mftz20 6 Speed Feewheel Fit An Old Wheel?
By Colin

I have a 6 speed 12/21T which is 25+ years old on a Athena wheel hub.
To old to climb up hills and looking to easy the gearing to the 14/28T.
Will the new freewheel fit? I have a standard old 105 slider group set on the cycle. I have been told this will not work?

Hi,
This freewheel should be the same thread so should fit the wheel fine. As this freewheel is Shimano's Hyperglide system you would need to purchase a Hyperglide chain to go with it as you original chain would not be compatible, otherwise you should be able to set it up and get it to work fine.
Thanks.
