Does it make a difference that it displays 8 - 1 rather than 1-8?
i.e. Does is pull the same length of cable for each gear change?
i.e. Does is pull the same length of cable for each gear change?
SJS Customer Service:
Yes, this will work with both Nexus and Alfine 8 speed hubs, however due to the design of the IGH the shift action does work in the opposite to a normal trigger shifter. SK 08/07/24

Wondering what brake lever can be used with this shifter to save space on the bar.
SJS Customer Service:
Pretty much all flat bar brake levers will work with these shifters, you will need around 20-30mm of space for the lever clamp depending on the lever. SK 17/04/23

Sorry about the question...Is a thumb press changing to an 'easier' gear and finger press to a harder one?
SJS Customer Service:
tumb is shifting up into easier gears, and finger pull into lower gears.
Does this facilitate 'standard' shifting pattern?

Just wondering if this changes gears in the same direction as a standard derailleur or is it reversed - Hoping its thumb press to advance the gearing and finger to gear down. I am planning to use on a Nexus 8
SJS Customer Service:
Yes, so thumb press to go up and finger pull to go down
Could this be used with a 7 speed biopace setup and match the gear spacings? Thanks.

SJS Customer Service:
it would depend on the front mech, 7 and 8 speed spacing is as near as matters identical, you'd need a 7 or 8s MTN front mech such as Shimano Altus FD-M310 8 Speed Conventional Swing Front Derailleur - Multi 28.6/31.8/34.9mm (SJS Cycles part number : 37286) RT
