ProsAnalogue
With rachet pull like the old Suntour Powershifters from the early 80s. I love it to get micro analogue adjustment for silent running of transmission...

ProsReasonable price, versatility
Excellent friction shifter, which can also be mounted on the RIGHT side of your handlebars if you mount it upside down. Pretty cool. I used it to friction shift a 11–40t 8-speed cassette with zero issues. The lever has just enough throw (about 180°) to shift through the range of the cassette. I used a Microshift Acolyte derailer with it (cheap and cheerful).

ConsOne could too easily quibble.
ProsMulti positional and decent quality for pennies.
This friction shifter is worth every single penny I spent on it. Multiple positions for the cable line and a click ratchet to boot. It could be said it lacks the finesse of the big boys, but more than makes up for this with overall performance and price.

Appears well made, with precise action. Offset forward from handle bar so does not interfere with hand position on grips

ProsSolid, well made and looks/performs better than the trike manufacturers supplied lever.
Bought to operate the disc parking/drag brake on my recumbent trike. The lever pulls cable with a series of micro clicks and releases cable with a smooth friction action so it feels not unlike a car handbrake in operation. Works perfectly for my intended use.

I recommend this product
I use this shifter on the left side of my S5/2A 5-speed alloy hub. For the right side I use the 3 Speed Sturmey Archer SLS30-T Thumbshifter.
Works perfect!

Looking for a six speed rh handlebar friction shifter will the sa m90 work or is it indexed
By
30 Mar 2020
The M90 is friction left (for front mech) and indexed right.

Will this work well with a Shimano Ultegra 6703 triple front mech?
By

Can you specify the handlebar diameter the lever will fit?
This is friction, so there is no indexing and it will work with any front mech. 22.2mm bar clamp.

Could This One In A Pinch Be Used With A 9 Speed Rear Derailleur?
By
28 Mar 2017
Hi,

Unfortunately not, as it is designed for use with front derailleurs it will not have enough total cable pull to work with a 9spd rear derailleur.

Thanks.
