This is Brompfication's new version of the CNC machined aluminium Chain Tensioner for Single Speed Brompton's. We have completely re-designed the chain tensioner to get a cleaner and more elegant look then the original plastic tensioner. The main difference from the old design is that the tensioner arm now rotate around a pivot bolt mounted directly on the rear hub axle. This make it possible to reduce the bulky base of the tensioner and make it follow the lines of the tensioner arm.
More than 2 hours of CNC machining is going into making each of these chain tensioner. The tensioner is machined from 7075-T6 aluminium, one of the absolutely highest grades of aluminium alloy you can get. By using 7075-T6 aluminium it has been possible for us to design a light weight and elegant chain tensioner, without compromising on strength and stiffness. With a weight of only 113 grams including the spring and the pivot bolt, just 10 grams more then the plastic version, it is one of the lightest aluminium chain tensioner for Brompton on the marked. The tensioner come with a stainless steel spring that replace the original spring, and a pivot bolt in titanium.
The tensioner is black anodized to give it a wear resistant and corrosion resistant surface. The tensioner consist of 1 chain tensioner arm, 1 tensioner base, 1 pivot bolt and 1 spring.

Replacement Single speed Derailleur wheels

Hi SJS,
Where can I find replacement tensioner derailleur wheels specifically for single speed? I can only seem to see wheels for 2-6 speed? I would like to replace my worn out plastic tensioner with the aluminium one here but need the wheels also.

I have the Kinetics rear triangle and Rohloff hub. Will this tensioner fit that setup?

will this bolt onto the axle of a Sturmey Archer 8speed hub which according to the SA spec takes 13/32inch dome nuts i.e is this product compatible with this hub?.

i.e. M10 bolts that thread into the hub from each side. Could you send a photograph of the other side of the tensioner?

It is possible, but not as designed. The inside is CNC;'d to allow for a anti-rotation washer and M10 nut. - I will ask our photographer to add an inside photo.

Does The Chain Tensioner Pivot Bold Replace The Two M10 Nuts ?

Does the chain tensioner pivot bold replace the two M10 nuts on the right side or does one nut remain and the pivot bold replace only the second nut that hold the original chain tensioner ?

Pivot Bold Thread Size And Allen Key Size ?

I would like to have some more information about this tensioner:
- what is the thread size of the pivot bold (is it M10) ?
- what is the size of the Allen hex key to fasten the pivot bold ?
- how strong is the spring, is it as strong as the original spring, or even more ?

Hi,
This chain tensioner threads directly onto the Brompton single speed hubs which are 10x1 thread. An 8mm allen key is required for fitting. The spring should be of a similar strength to the original chain tensioner.
