Simple, light yet tough, effective, easy to set up, always works, never an issue in the last 12 years, and we run 4 bromptons in the family.

Better than the new 2017- integrated brake lever/gear shifter models IMO which - maybe apart from the looks - seem to be a step backwards with clunky feel, unpredictable and unreliable shifting.

Yes, this shifter will work, no the Toolkit only fits 2004 onwards.

What is the diameter of the clamp? What range of handlebar diameters could it be used with?

These fit onto 22.2mm handlebars.
