Could I use these in forward facing horizontal dropouts e.g. Surly Hurdy Gurdy

These are for rear facing drop outs only, for forward you will need the Hurdy Gurdy from Surly. SK 16/05/23

Could I use these in a horizontal rear dropout with a quick release skewer to stop slipping?

Yes these will work, they are designed to hold a 10mm axle but if care is taken they will work with a QR axle too. SK 16/05/23
