ConsPossibly a bit pricey but you do get what you pay for!

ProsLight, tidy, essential for my build

I've just finished restoring/upgrading an old Peugeot frame with modern parts. As anybody who has done something similar will know, trying to persuade parts that are 30 years yonger onto a vintage frame is a tricky undertaking. This cable stop allowed me to use a brand new Shimano Tiagra front mech even though there was no way of mounting a cable guide under the bottom bracket. It looks good and gets the job done!

My remarks wpould be identical to Chris G above and I've fitted mine and it works a treat. Nicely finished. it complements my Suntour front changer and SJS was (were?) the only place I could find one.

I ordered this product as I had replaced my front derailleur on my old Dawes bike. It was delivered promply. It's a nice looking clamp and seems to be good quality.. I haven't yet fitted it so I cant comment on it's functionality but I can't imagine it'll do anything other than it should do.
Happy with purchase and well done SJS The ONLY place I could find it.

Easy to use, works well use this on my Fuji Feather which did not come with any cable stops on the frame for the rear brake.

Only issue I see with this clamp is in regards to aesthetics. I had to reverse one of them so that the cable stop was facing the other way which meant that the clamp on the front of the bike had the hinge on one side and at the rear of the bike the hinge was the other side. Apart from this I would recommend this clamp.

How is cable end held?

Hi
With all these cable stops, how do they hold the outer cable ends? Is the cable stop hole tapered, or does its diameter reduce at the end to stop the cable outer pulling through?
And are the cable stops designed to include a cable end ferrule?
Finally, are these designed for brake or gear cables, and if both, how does that work, with these cables being different diameter?

The cable stop works exactly as a frame cable stop works, the cable butts up against a shoulder, they can be used with either gear or brake cable depending on the ferrule used on the outer cable. SK 12/1/24

will this fit on a chain stay?

What Torque Should This Be Installed At?

Hi,

Unfortunately there is not a torque measurement provided for these clamp on cable stops. They do not need to be very tight though as the only force acting upon them would be a slight pull from the cables. As there is a titanium bolt used as well it would lower the torque value as well as they are not as hard as alloy bolts.

Cable Stop Size

What size range of top tubes will this fit?

My top tube measures approx. 83mm round (by tape) which gives a diameter of 26.4mm.

Do you have anything suitable in polished alloy?

Hi,

This cable stop is designed around tubes with a diameter of 28.6mm. I'm afraid we don't have any cable stops that are designed to fit tubes as small as 26.4mm. The only thing I can suggest is using some sort of shim to fit between your frame and the clamp.
