ProsLightweight, simple, durable
I bought this not for a single speed but to set up a sturmey S-RF5 with a double front chainset.
Can happily confirm that this has the capacity for and the tension on the spring works well for a 50/34 compact crankset with 16 or 18 teeth on the rear cog. Shifting is smooth.
The wheels it come with are just plastic 11t ones with bushings. I replaced those with 11t alloy wheels with ceramic bearings and it works great. Keep in mind that you must tension the spring when reassembling it.
Weight is good, about 125 grams. The guide and arm are made from aluminium and quite durable.
The inside of the chain line adjustment post is a spot that is prone to corrosion if there is water ingress. I recommend pulling this apart and greasing it up when you first install it to prevent that.
The whole thing is a simple enough design, with standard bolt sizes. This also means maintenance and repairs are super easy.

I know this can be disassembled but do you know if any jockey wheels are compatible to replace the ones that come with this?
Or are we expected to just replace the whole thing when the wheels wear out?
Or are we expected to just replace the whole thing when the wheels wear out?
SJS Customer Service:
They can be replaced, just use jockey wheels of the same tooth count. SK 16/01/25
How does this chain tensioner attach to the frame?
By Richard Dyer

Is it perhaps designed to attach to a standard derailer hanger, be that the old type cast into the lug, or the modern replaceable hanger.
SJS Customer Service:
Yes- this is meant to bolt onto the derailleur hanger.
