Good value for a solid upgrade

I recommend this product
My Brompton B75's OEM headset was getting somewhat flaccid and noodly, so I looked into alternatives. This seemed to have decent reviews as well as being about the right price, as opposed to CK's offerings which, whilst I am sure they are great, cost a packet. Fitting was relatively straightforward and the steering now feels great - no hint of play. Interestingly, I can also now ride no-handed, as opposed to the unnerving wobbliness that used to develop immediately before. This might have been due to the setting-up of the original headset at the factory, but it's nice to have rectified that too.

What's the stack height of this?
By Steve
10 Oct 2019
Hi
What's the overall stack height of this compared to a Brompton one?
I ask as I have a JK one installed on my 2015 M6L (steel forks) and have the issue that there are only 3 or 4 threads of the threaded forks' column/stem engaged with the top locknut, which suggests the stack height is greater.
Thanks

What's included?

Hi
Does this headset kit include everything needed to replace the Brompton headset i.e. absolutely everything top and bottom of the head tube, including seals?
Presumably you need to prise off the Brompton bearing races/cups in order to replace with the JK cartridge bearing? If so, is this a difficult job?
And what size spanners are needed for the nut and locknut, please?
Thanks

SJS Customer Service:
Yes, the complete headset, as pictured, is included.
The lock nuts are for 36mm spanners and yes you would need to remove the stock cups and crown race. - very easy if you have the correct tools / knowledge/experience.

Coming loose every few days
By Florin

Hi,
I've bought this and had it fitted a few months back by Evans on a Golden Brompton Service, but I need to tighten it every few days and always find myself taking the headset wrenches with me... is this possibly because of a defective headset, or was it a wrong fitting from the very beginning? Would you be able to advise? I think it's quite dangerous to have it come loose all the time.
Thanks

SJS Customer Service:
Hi there,
This sounds like it has not been fitted properly, the two nuts need to be locked off against each other properly.
