I fitted this to an (old) internal mech Rohloff, so had to fit a transfer box (8216). Despite what the Q&A says, part 8714 is not required, since 8216 comes with screws.

Installation was fine, but takes a while. You'll need some long lengths of cable outer. I ended up buying a workshop roll.

The Rohbox itself is very nicely made. It's not as smooth in use as the twist shifter, and it's very sensitive to the cable run (like derailleurs). There's a lot of dead movement before it actually starts to shift, so the levers have a lot of throw, and you can't adjust it out without causing interference. There's a lot of spring in the system, so it's much harder to time the shift between pedal strokes. I often find that it shifts two gears when I wanted just one. In general, I get a lot more mis-shifts and glitches than I ever had before.

That said, this is the best system I've found for controlling the Rohloff with drop bars. There are good alternatives, but with different compromises.
