ProsEXCELLENT SPROCKET SPACERS
I had bought a second hand Sturmey Archer AW hub to see how easy it was to open up. It was missing the sprocket and sprocket spacer washers. These do the job perfectly. The most difficult thing when dismantling is undoing the ball race. It's amazing what heat, WD40 and a brass drift will accomplish. The ball race has a normal right hand thread. I reassembled with Copperslip.

ConsNot every supplier has them available.
ProsCheap to purchase and very handy.
This Sturmey-Archer washer is great for other applications. It can be used behind a fixed cog to align the chain better and also behind a freewheel if the derailleur is too close to the spokes. Also it can be used one on either side of a 65mm bottom bracket to bring it out to the standard 68mm when fitting a double chainset. I've always got a few in the toolbox.
Does the job

When a washer has the correct external and internal diameters and is the right thickness, there's not much more to say!

Is this the 1.5mm spacer Brompton guide suggests for SA3-14?
By
12 Aug 2023
Using a SA3-14 sprocket on a Brompton 3 speed hub. Guide suggest 1.5mm spacer and it?s missing below the sprocket in the old build. Would this do? The curclip seems set too low without it.
Hello & thank you for your enquiry.
The washer is 1.6mm thick, 35mm ID, 41.5mm OD. Suitable on a Brompton Sturmey Hub.
Kind regards, pc 14/8/23.

And is it the standard size one for Brompton Sturmey Archer hubbed bikes?
The washer is 1.6mm thick, 35mm ID, 41.5mm OD. Suitable on a Brompton Sturmey Hub - but should only need on the older hubs.
