Internal hub gear hubs, also known as internally geared hubs (IGH), are a type of bicycle gearing system that is contained within the rear hub shell. Unlike traditional derailleur systems, which use external cogs and chainrings to change gears, internally geared hubs house all the gears and shifting mechanisms inside the hub itself.
