Details
Recently added to the range the Secula is a compact rear light designed to fit onto either the seat post or the seat stays. It has a standlight. It has a prism system which creates a light crown powered by a single high powered LED which is very distinctive due to its 'spatial' shape. This allows other road users better capacity to estimate the distance to the bicycle. The circumferential elegant transparent glass shines bright red when operating.

LineTec is a very clever concept developed by B&M. Before LineTec cars approaching a bicycle from behind could only see a single rear light spot without being able to judge the distance very accurately. To judge distance the human eye requires spacial relation - especially in 'spaceless' darkness. B&Ms lights with the LineTec light strip emit 'spatial' light. With LineTec other road users can estimate the distance to a cyclist much more accurately.

- Single high powered LED
- Exceptionally bright LineTec light crown
- Standlight
- Centrally integrated rear reflector
- Compact casing
- 38 x 55 mm

ProsEasy to fit, bright.
Fantastic rear dynamo light. Easy to mount on either seat post or seat stays. Stay light works a treat, nice and bright.

ConsDifficult to repair, not waterproof
ProsGood light, easy to fit
A good little light which worked for 6 months until it got water inside while cleaning my bike. The housing is glued together so it was impossible to open to clean it out and repair it without breaking the plastic. I did manage to repair the board, so I'm going to seal the spade connector terminals at the base with bathroom silicone when I put it back on the bike.
Good light.

ProsEasy fit, good light.
Nice light. Easy to fit to my B&M front and seems to give out a good light in dull weather so should be good when it's dark. The one thing I will mention is it seems designed to fit on the left stay. There is no problem putting it on the right stay but the allen head is on the spoke side and I'm sure the light is slightly to the left of center of the bracket.
Great light!

ConsZip tie mount is not the best
ProsBright, good quality
This light is great, very bright (brighter than my B&M rear rack dynamo light) and easy to install. Having some dynamo wiring experience would be useful though. I two minor complaints - the light is secured by a big zip tie, surely there is a better way of mounting?? I put some electrical tape on the seat stay and haven't had any issues with the light moving. The other thing is the bolt that holds the light to the mount fell out as I was riding. I think some locktite would work to fix this issue. I ended up putting a larger diameter bolt through and it's been fine. All in all, I think this is a great light for a reasonable price.

ConsCable running along the frame might annoy some.
ProsBright, light and reliable.
I bought this to go with my Schmidt hub and edelux front light. I was pretty happy with my old battery tail light but paranoia about the battery failing on my winter commute prompted me to get this. It comes with a twin cable to connect to the front light, it's very light (no batteries ) and is impressively bright. I mounted mine on the seat stay and routed the cable along the rear brake cable.
Very happy with it, very bright and no batteries to worry about.
Downsides? None really but there are no wiring instructions with it so I had to look on the Internet although it is very easy.

I was looking to see if you have the fittings for this light ?
By

I have the secula attached to my commuter bike at the back on the pannier rack, but unortunately some of the bolts have come loose and have been lost. I was looking to see if you had a similiar bracket or something that could be used to connect it back to the pannier rack? Thanks
Hi, unfortunately we do not have replacement fitting kits for the B&M lights. For further assistance I suggest you email our sales team with some pictures of what you are trying to achieve. [email protected] Thanks

Hi, I have a n SP-PD7 hub with an E3 Pro2 front light. Will this be compatible?
By
22 Sep 2022
Hi
Unfortunately not, you will need to use a Supernova rear light. This is because the power feed from a Supernova front light to rear is in DC whilst this rear light requires AC.

fitting
By
13 Apr 2022
Hello,
Is there a better fitting for this rear light than with tie cables? Tie cables don't make it for a very robust fitting.
Thanks .
A
Ties are one of the most durable fittings out there, and are easy to source, color match and replace when needed.

I have this back light already, can I juts buy the fitting withough the light?
By
19 Aug 2020
Hello

I have this back light already, it was used on my back mudguard. Now I am fitting new wider tires, and I need to use the light on the seat stay. Can I just buy the fitting or do I have to buy the whole new back light?

Thanks

Ania
Im afarid not, we not not sell the fitting as a separate part.
Would this fit onto a pannier rack with 10mm-diameter tubing?
By
08 Nov 2019
Hi, it is not suitable for 10mm tubing without additional shims or packing. The bracket is also angled for seat stays or seat posts so may not work very well on rack angles. Thanks 11/11/2019
Can I use this with the Schmidt Edelux I front light ?
By
18 Aug 2019
I have a SON 28 hub dynamo powering an Edelux I front light. Can i use this as a tail light considering...

- can I plug this light into the spade socket on the Edelux ?

- does this light come with the cabling to allow me to do this ?

- since my Edelux I draws 2.4 watts of power, and my SON 28 develops 3 watts, will this light be okay to use without overloading my system ?
Hi there,

You can indeed use this with the Edelux and it does come with all of the required wirings. As we have never done this we cannot say whether this would overload your setup for sure I'm afraid.

Thanks.
Can this be connected successfully to a Supernova E3 Pro 2?
By
27 Nov 2018
Hi

Thank you for your enquiry, with Supernova front lights you also have use their rear lights as they use DC unlike Busch & Muller or Schmidt. You will need to use either they seatpost or rack fitting option.

Does this light also count as a Reflector for Audax riding?
By
13 Nov 2018
On Audax rides you must have a rear reflector. When I am not using mudguards I find it difficult to fit a separate reflector, but have the Secula dynamo rear light with its integrated reflector. I just wonder whether anyone has checked that the reflector would ‘count’ on an Audax ride. I realise that this might not be known to SJS, but thought other Audax riders would either know, or want to know. Thanks.
Hi there,

This light does have an integrated reflector, however we would not know if this complies with Audax ride ruling im afraid.

Thanks.

Can this run on batteries?
By
01 Jul 2018
Hi, can you use batteries on this light or is it only dynamo? Does it come with the fastenings for the seat stay / post? Thanks
Hi there,

This light is really only suitable for use with a dynamo rather than a battery. Yes it comes with all the fittings,

Thanks

Can this be used with the classic t senso plus and an old sturmey archer dynohub, will I have enough power ?
Hi there,

These should actually work together okay, we have not got experience of the combination, but discussing with our supplier, we agree there should not be an issue.

Thanks
Cable And Connectors
By
09 Dec 2016
The two questions asked on this subject have been a little too vague, as have the answers. What cable and connectors does this light come with please? I am looking for single cor or dual core for the cable and whether there are spade connectors on the cable on one or both ends. How does the cable connect to the rear light?
Hi,

The supplied cable is dual core, it comes with one set of spade connectors pre-attached to one end of the cable and another set loose so you can fit these when you have cut the cable to the desired length. There is heat shrink wrap supplied for the spade connectors as well when you fit them. The cable attaches to the rear light with the supplied spade connectors.

Thanks.

Compaptability With Sa Front Dynamo Hub
By
09 Nov 2014
Hi I have the above front wheel ( including hub brake). it already powers a front led light.

is it ok to add the rear led to this set up?

will it affect power output? ( is there some way i can calculate this?)

thnak you

phil
Hi,

You'll be absolutely fine to add a rear light to this set up. As you light is an LED light it requires less than the maximum output of the hub to run at full brightness so the brightness will not actually be affected by the addition of a rear light.

Thanks.
Does It Come Complete With Cable And Connectors, Please?
