Available in narrow or wide profile.

SON Rear Light is of minimal dimensions. So it fits where common rear lights with integrated reflectors are too large. It's housing is made of anodized aluminium. Lens and electronics are encapsulated. Two versions are available for narrow profiles (35-45mm wide) and wide profiles (50-60mm wide).

SKS Chromoplastic Sizing

Is the narrow or wide fitting best for 45mm SKS Chromoplastics. I know that question is partially answered already (about 45mm) but the older (2021) chromoplastics aren't spherical, the middle section flattens out. Eyeballing a narrow version of the SON light, it looks like too tight a curve for the Chromoplastics.

How does this attach to the mudguard?

Does it need one or two screw-holes making into the 'guard, and can it cope with tighter curves for small wheels as well as standard wheel sizes?

This needs one screw hole. It should cope on tight curves however as we have never done this we cannot say for certain I'm afraid.

What are the actual dimensions and shape of the curve?

I'd really like to know the actual width of these lights, wide and narrow, and also what the shapes of the curve underside, that interfaces with the mudguard, is like. I want to fit it to a mudguard that has quite a steep curved section (honjo narrow). Would it be possible to ask you to take a few measurements, and maybe a photo of the underside of the light showing shape of the curve? Many thanks for any help given, Skülly

Hello,

The width of the light is exactly the same on the narrow and the wide. This measurement is 40mm. The difference between the two is the profile of the beam it produces. The angle on the bottom for both fits between 25deg and 23deg.
