Details
The SON rear light is of minimalistic and robust design as well as noble looks. Many customers have been looking for a rear light like this for a long time. Now also sportive bicycles that don‘t come with rear racks can be equipped with dynamo-powered rear lights thanks to versions for seatpost mount and mudguard mount. They fit technically ideally and are of good looks just as well.
The rear light has an anodized aluminium housing, electronics and optic parts are potted watertight. The coaxial cable for connection to the headlight is firmly fitted. With standlight.
- Fully watertight
- Milled aluminium housing
- Impact resistant
- Coaxial cable for headlight connection
- Integrated standlight capacitor
- Compatible with all common dynamo-powered headlights
Available in Rack Mount (50mm spacing) or Seatpost Mount (26 to 31.8mm)

ProsLight output
The Schmidt rear light is a small but well engineered component with an aluminium mounting plate, allen bolts and nuts are included. It comes with a adequately lengthy cable that can be connected to the front dynamo light. The light output is bright and once the bicycle is in motion the power from the hub dynamo (my set up is Schmidt Son28) provides a constant very bright light. When stopped the light output is maintained for a short while. Because it is quite small I have also added a mounting bracket (Schmidt) and reflector (B&L) for improved visibility at night. It is quite expensive for the size and there is no access to wiring connectors in the device. Overall, I would recommend using one if you run the cycle lighting from a hub dynamo.

Good morning SJS!
Is there a Lumin or Lux measurement listed for this? The front light is down for 90 Lux at 15kph I think. FYI I'll be running it off a Son28/Edelux ii
Many thanks,
Sam

Hi,
You would be absolutely fine to go for this combination on your Brompton. You would need to select the 36cm cable option on the front light though as this is the correct length for a Brompton and the light will then also come with the Brompton specific bracket.
Thanks.

Would Like To Run Rear Light From Front Hub Dynamo.

I have a Schmidt hub dynamo running B & M Lumotec IQ front lamp and would like to know if I can run a rear lamp off the same hub.
If I can, can you list cables, hear shrink and cable connectors etc needed to connect B & M or Schmidt rear light to front dynamo.
Many thanks

Hi,
Rear lights actually piggy back off of the front light as they require very little power, so you definitely will be able to run a rear light with your current set up. The Schmidt rear lights come supplied with all of the cabling and connectors required for fitting.
Thanks.
