Details
The new Classic Rack is based on a vintage design which has been re-engineered to allow it to securely fit any saddle with metal bag loops. In keeping with Carradice's ethos, the new Classic Saddlebag Rack is manufactured entyrely in Lancashire by one of Carradice's trusted suppliers.

We note: The welding on the joints is not very tidy, however this does not affect performance.

Made from steel, the Carradice Classic Rack:
- Gives excellent wheel clearance - the rack lifts the bag up to 10 cm higher than direct attachment to bag loops. Total drop from saddle loops to bottom of rack is 12cm
- Maximum recommended load 6kg
- Eliminates saddlebag sway
- Improves security - the whole rack removes entirely, nothing is left on the bike
- Has two strap mount positions to accommodate a wide range of bag sizes
- Weight: 330g

Dimensions:
- 14cm (W) x 20 cm (H) x 17.5 cm (D)

Fixing System:
- Nylon webbing strap; also requires saddle with metal saddlebag loops

ProsLifts luggage high and hangs securely
Really great and has allowed me to switch my bikepacking set up over to 2 carradice odyssey (front and back) and a frame bag. It did break the luggage slot hangers on my old Brooks c17, but it was old, so maybe best paired with a classic brooks that has metal eyelets.

ConsNone
ProsSturdy and convenient.
Carradine has always provided me with quality products and this Classic Saddlebag Rack is no exception. Very sturdy and well made this rack easily carries my heavy, spare Ebike battery crammed into my Barley saddlebag, along with tools, tubes, jacket, and roadkill. Zero sway, and easy to remove when needed.

I recommend this product
I bought this for my son who lives in the Netherlands and needs to commute to work on a bike. Saddle bags were catching on the rear wheel as the frame is small and the saddle stem is not raised by much. Using this has meant that he no longer needs to use a back pack and he can use the largest saddle bag with ease.

ConsNot so good if you have a sprung saddle
ProsEasy to remove
I had one of these many years ago and it was very much like the first one extremely useful.
The only difference is my current saddles are Brooks with quite large springs which cause the support to be less easily attached.
I would still recommend it for quick removal of saddbag.

ConsSome might think they look a bit agricultural
ProsThey just work
Excellent piece of kit. I have one for each carradice bag and they really do the job. Slightly inelegant to get onto the saddle if there is nowhere to lean the bike. The weight is OK as part of the luggage I like to carry

ProsRequires Brooks saddle style loops
Wishing to support a saddle bag without a full rear rack for a short stoker (tandem) was proving difficult: interference with the rear brake cable. This rack cleverly solved that.

Does this keep the bag free from contact with the legs when pedalling?

Does this keep the bag out of the way of the legs? I have tried a Barley Bag and the backs of my leg touch it when I am pedalling. (Thorn Audax with a C17 Brooks saddle)
Hard to say- in theory, yes however it totally depends on the riding position and rider. We would recommend test fitting first.

Hi
Thank you for your enquiry, we can confirm that you will not be able to use this with the Brooks Cambium C17 saddle, Carradice advise that it should only be used with a saddle that has metal loops.

Can I use this with a Brooke's Flyer sprung saddle and a Carradice Super C saddlebag please?
By

Hi,

Although this rack would be suitable for use with a Super C saddlebag, it unfortunately would not be suitable for use with a Brooks Flyer saddle as the springs interfere with the rack preventing it from sitting correctly.

Thanks.
