ConsThe straps are sometimes difficult to work with
Proscapacity, design, quality of sewing, price
I've had a number of good bags - JANDD, C'dale, Eclipse, Kirtland, Banjo Bros. and others.

Size, accessibility, build-quality - this is the bag I've wanted since 1972, when I started riding as an adult.

I ride a 21"/54CM bike, no fenders. I continue to use a rear rack but may get a bagman or experiment with internal stiffeners.

I'm in the US. Even with shipping from SJS, this costs less than anything of comparable size or quality here.
Catches on legs

ConsCan catch on the back of your legs
ProsGives a retro look
Best price on web at SJS for £41.99 but I think Carradice bags are overpriced generally for what they are. I had to fit saddlebag loop brkts to my bike rails to hang the bag which is fine but factor this in if you don't have loopchangers already. The main problem is that the bag catches on the back of your legs if left to hang without any support. You can buy a rack etc to support it but again this costs extra. It was unsuitable for me but SJS gave me a no quibble refund.
very good

ProsGreat online store 5 star
Sjs cycles are a great online store to deal with, keep you informed of your order progress ....Never advertise stock they haven't got like some I have dealt with
Their carradice range is cheaper than carradice itself and the range is vast...will continue to use sjs for all my future bije stuff....#fabtastic

Prosstrong construction, waterproof, versatile, long lasting.
Nice, strong traditional style saddle bag. Perfect for day rides or commuting. Far more useful than the newer style saddle bags of today.
Excellent bag for a day trip.

ConsReally needs saddlebag loops on the saddle.
ProsGood size, excellent value.
At this price, a bag of this quality is a steal. It is slightly larger than I expected so it wasn't a good fit on my granddaughter's bike. I am not too disappointed as it is an excellent fit on my bike.

ProsHand made, good value
This bag is great value for money. For a handmade saddlebag, made in the UK, the price is quite incredible. The size is larger than I expected, perfect for fitting in all the essentials you need for a day. The bag is not that easy to remove and reattach quickly if you plan on doing so, but I just leave it attached. The materials are quality, and although a few stitches are out of line this is part of the charm of a handmade product. I love it!

ProsPerfect size for a day ride, looks, quality
As others have said the size is perfect for a day ride. It looks great, and the workmanship is excellent (and, because of the way traditional Carradice bags are made, it is easy to fix them if needed).

ProsSize, Quality, Design
I love this bag! It's the perfect size, I can fit waterproofs, books, lunch etc... and leave my bag at home. It's not so big that it weighs the bike down though. It looks good too.

ProsExcellent build quality, size, cost
This is probably the best decent size day saddlebag available in Carradice's range. It takes just about everything you could need on a day ride, from food and a waterproof top, through to tools, keys and a mobile phone, without being too big on your saddle (I use a Brooks B17 and it fits well)

Can this saddle bag be used as a handlebar bag?

Can you supple handlebar spacers? Thank you
It could be used as a saddlebag, however, the success of this will very much depend on the bike and cables etc. We don't supply spacers for this.

Is this comfy for a Brompton with a Brooks saddle?
By
23 Jan 2020
I need a not-too-large light bag for my Bromton and the City Folders are too big for my needs. I'm thinking about the Junior or the Cadet, so I don't need any extra frame for the bag. I wanted to know if these models mess too much with the folding, if attaching/deattaching the bag from the saddle is fast and also if they are comfortable when using the bike (e.g. they don't hit your legs). Thanks for your kind help.
These sit on the back of the saddle, do not touch legs when pedalling or affect the fold.

How Does It Fit To The Saddle?
By
26 Jul 2015
Just wondered how the Junior fits to the saddle as the images do not show the back of the bag...
Hi,

This saddle bag fits to the saddle by the supplied leather straps, the top two either fit to the saddle rails or saddlebag loops (if your saddle has them). The third strap goes around the seatpost to stop the bag from swaying. This bag can be fitted with the Carradice Bagman system as well for more support.

Thanks.
