Made from 100% waterproof cotton duck the Super C has been THE choice for countless expeditions due to its rugged, reliable nature & is the classic choice of many serious cycle tourists. They are perfect for any type of cycle touring especially when used in conjunction with the matching rear panniers & barbag. The patented Quick-Clip system allows secure but easy on and off fixing to the bike. All Super C bags come with a lifetime guarantee against defective materials & workmanship

Note: Sometimes when the cotton duck is new, the fabric needs to soften a little so that the fibres spread out for maximum waterproof protection. If used immediately in extreme conditions some leakage may occur (this is not common though). Extra reproofing might help.

ConsCotton duck fraying after a few years

ProsVery tough for everyday use. Easy to fit

These new ones are replacing my old Carradice Super C panniers. In a way I am writing a review on the old ones that are starting to fall apart after 14 years of everyday use. The bottom edge was tearing, where probably they had come into contact with too many stone walls.. During that time, the nylon inner drawstring top had come away from the main body of the cotton duck, which meant that the cotton started to fray.

Bought for commuting (single pannier) and credit card touring. Perfect for both uses. Strong fittings and you can tailor the fit to get best position on the rack. Feel bombproof. The external pocket is very useful.

ConsWater resistant not waterproof like roll top alternatives

ProsMaterial, external pocket, strength of fittings

Agricultural fitting compared to the German offerings, however the quality of the stitching and fabric is fantastic. Decent size with no internal pocket to snag and breathable material means my shopping doesn't sweat in the same way as my vaude panniers. Small external pocket useful for organising gear frequently used.

Secure fitting on front rack, used 2 hose clamps to further secure the bags

Used 1 full day where it would not stop raining, little bit of water at the bottom of bags, allthough this could easily have been duo to no front fender on my bike

The cotton should make the bags more breathable allowing for dampness to escape, the bags where not soaked after the 1 day of rain

Outerlayer is cotton duck, with some sort of waterproof material at the opening which can be pulled together, inside theres an additionel layer seperate from the cotton duck, bags are pretty solid/rigid without anything in them

Great product and fine price, the additional outside pocket comes in handy

Top quality once again from Carradice, Material will outlast us all, Fittings of good quality, Look good, and fit on my Tubus Low rider with easy. Oh and made in the UK by Sue, all my Carradice seem to be made by Sue! Must be a Top Lady! Anyway just go buy them you wont regret them, And SJS great service and alway quick delivery,

Hi

Are these Carradice Super C Front Panniers compatible with the Thorn MkV Cro Mo Steel Lo-Loader (11576)?

I've used Altura Skye 13L (each) front panniers for the past 6 years on that rack with no issues, but they've now bitten the dust after 13 years, so looking for a replacement & these look a likely candidate at 14L each.

For the super C front panniers the pictures show a single clip as the mount: do you get three clips per bag (ie the quick release and two additional clips) as shown in your pictures for the same mounting system of the rear Super C panniers?

I read somewhere that someone recommended another version of these bags with Rixen & Kaul mounting hardware, will Carradice's system still work?

Hi,

As far as we're aware there is not a Klickfix fitting system for any panniers, Rixen and Kaul make pannier rails for certain companies but there is no Klickfix system for them. These panniers come with their own fitting system made by Carradice and would not be compatible with any rails made by Rixen and Kaul.
