Previously known as ESGE Chromoplastics, SKS are the Rolls-Royce of mudguards; they are virtually unbreakable and are very elegant. Their beauty is not just skin-deep. The stainless steel v-shaped stays make for easy fitting and the quick release Secu-clips are far safer than standard fixings, preventing front wheel lock up in case of a foreign object getting trapped between guard and wheel. The mudguards have no sharp edges and are amazingly flexible. The production process of fine aluminium foil is encapsulated within a matris of high performance plastic. This process provides high resistance to corrosion resulting in great flexibility.

Please note that the image shown with cut-out on the rear mudguard is the 26 x 65mm option, the narrower version does not have this.

Great mudguards. Light, robust, nice reflector.
I think the instructions on fitting could be improved. I think first: fit the mudguards, then mark where to trim the stays. Then either remove the stays and trim or move the guards down, in situ, then trim the stays.

Which size should I use for my Triplet 55 or 65?

Mudguard width choice depends on tyre size. YOU know your tyre width, eg if you had 50-599 so you would select 55, a little wider than the tyre. RT 12/08/2022

Will these be suitable for my 26 x 1.75 wheels?

I came across a reply of yours to a comment regarding the above which advised that to when fitting to 26" wheels with tyres under 1 1/2" you always modified the 700c version of the mudguard - and see (your) blog for how to do this. I can no longer find that piece of advice, and the only blog of yours I can find is quite old and doesn't mention this. I'm pretty sure I could manage this myself, but I'd be interested if this still exists in your archives!

will these be suitable for a road bike using 559 wheels and deep drop caliper brakes 57mm max drop - tyres 26x1.25

No, neither width will fit through the brake, your only hope is to use 35mm 700c guards, to trim them down and hold them in tighter with the stays, be sure to use guards that have twin V stays back and front such as our item # 39809W35

Length Of Sks Chromoplastic 26 X 55 Front Mudguard?

Am considering ordering the SKS chromoplastic 26 x 55 mudguards for my Thorn New Raven. Could you pls tell me the length of the front mudguard? Currently I have a 36" mudguard, and any replacement shd be at least of similar length. Thanks for your help on this.

Hi,

Unfortunately the front mudguard is only 26" long so won't be suitable for your needs. The only guards we have with a longer front guard are the Giles Berthoud long mudguards, but front guard is only 5.5" longer so will still not be long enough.
