Details
Previously known as ESGE Chromoplastics, SKS are the Rolls-Royce of mudguards; they are virtually unbreakable and are very elegant. Their beauty is not just skin-deep. The stainless steel v-shaped stays make for easy fitting and the quick release Secu-clips are far safer than standard fixings, preventing front wheel lock up in case of a foreign object getting trapped between guard and wheel. The mudguards have no sharp edges and are amazingly flexible. The production process of fine aluminium foil is encapsulated within a matris of high performance plastic. This process provides high resistance to corrosion resulting in great flexibility.

ConsTakes time to get it right
ProsRobust, effective, and long-lasting
Guards are fiddlesome to fit well. (If you can complete this job quickly and well, you are likely a bike tech.) Of course, one has fitted this guard several times over the years, but they are durable so it was a long time ago. Take your time on the job and all will be well. One can carp that the product is behind the times: the fitting kit could have nicer bolts and better spacers, and how about pre-drilled holes for the mudflaps? But there's no getting around the need to cut the stays and strike off the cut end with a file, making the ugly end-caps redundant. But all this done, job's a good 'un and the price is half or less of the hi-zoot guards offered now.

I'm replacing the SKS mudguards on my 2008 Dawes Super Galaxy...
By

I'm assuming 45mm. It's just the front plastic (on the guard itself) that has broken. Do I just replace the guards themselves (part no. 50955) or do I buy these and replace the whole set?
Thanks.
Hi
If the stays are ok then I would simply replace the guards only by purchasing item 50955. If the stays are damaged or need replacing then purchase the complete set.
Kind Regards. JP 29/11/22

You could possibly fit it to these mudguards, however, we have never fitted them before so I'm unable to confirm the success of this modification.

What size for a 700 x 38c tyre please
By
18 Nov 2020
Hi, Will the 45mm width be big enough for a wheel with a 700 x 38c tyre?
Hi, usually yes as the edge to edge width of the mudguard is 45mm however it very much depends on the tyre and profile it has when inflated onto the rim. Your best option is to measure the width of your tyres when inflated and use this as a basis to purchase a suitable mudguard.

Is this going to be problematic to fit to wheels with disc brakes?
This will be dependant on how and where the brake is mounted.

Fixings to frame

I am trying to replace my SKS chromoplastic mudguards which are fixed at both front fork and rear stays with srews to the frame (ie with holes through the mudguard). Can you supply these?
Assuming you want 45mm silver then order SKS Chromoplastic Mudguard Blade Set - 700c 45mm - no front bracket or fittings (SJS Cycles part number : 50955) plus stays,
Length of front mudguard
By
09 Dec 2019
What is the length of the front mudguard round the outside of the curve from the fixing point at the fork crown to the bottom of the mud flap? Also is the mud flap the long type? The picture shows a short flap.
Hi, from the fixing point to the bottom of the flap is 650mm. It is a long flap type. Thanks 10/12/19
What is the fitting on the rear mudguard?
By
26 Sep 2017
Does the rear mudguard have a clip to fit it on to the frame stay near the bottom bracket? The bike I'm going to fit them to doesn't have a holed drilled for a bolt.
Hello,

This does not have a clip unfortunately.

Thanks.
