Edge AL guarantee both city and trekking bikers an optimal protection against splashing from the road. The aluminium mudguards that extend a long way down ensure a high degree of stability despite the fact that they only have to be mounted at three points. They do not have to be attached to a luggage rack. The puristic matt black look and the angular profile means that the Edge AL is almost invisible when it is integrated in the frame.

ConsSee below
The shorter 'front' stay is just long enough to secure the rear mudguard - so both guards now fit?? (although the pre kinked longer stays needed straightening so as not to put a strain on the plastic stay clips at the fork end)

The stays are attached to the inside of the mudguards with chunky plastic clips - and will undoubtedly get clogged with road gunge in time. Seems a poor design as a smooth inner surface would allow water and grit to fall away unimpeded?
Front stays rather short

ConsShort front stays
ProsGood looking
Front stays are too short to fit to fork mounts approx 120mm up from front thru axle forks - as on a Boardman HYB 8.9E carbon forks. Replacement long stay available for an additional £12.99 ??

I recommend this product
ProsLight weight, good quality build
Bought the 46 width. They are literally as described and the reviews are correct.
Good solid, quality build that is fairly easy to attach and work very well.

Fitting

Would these fit a Mercury frame ?
They will probably be a little big for the Mercury, it is intended to take a maximum of 40c tyres so space is limited. SK 04/11/24
Can I use these mudguards with an Orange Speedwork 700 2020 model
By

Hello, as we do not stock Orange bikes we cannot confirm if this will it in your bike. Your best option is to speak to orange directly and see what mudguards they have fitted successfully and work of their recommendations.

Fitting for a Thorn Audax Mk3
By
15 May 2019
I have a Thorn Audax mk3 (with the front fork with rack bosses). It has Schwalbe marathon racers on, 30mm. Would these fit?
no, you need SKS Chromoplastic Mudguard Set - 700c in 35mm
Fit a Genesis CdA?
By
25 Aug 2018
Are you able to advise whether these would fit a Genesis CdA, which has 700x40c tyres (https://www.edinburghbicycle.com/genesis-cda-10-2017.html)
We have no dealings with Genesis, so without seeing your bicycle we would have no way of telling.
Thanks
Attach to fork pannier mounts?
By
15 Aug 2018
Hi,
Would these attach to the front fork pannier mounts? Is there enough length in the front stays to allow this?
Cheers,
Sam
Hi there,

There is some adjustment, but it really depends on the fork itself and where those mounts sit compared to where the guard needs to be. A fork with a lesser rake would struggle for example.

Thanks
Maximum tire width?
By
01 Aug 2018
Hi there,

I was just wondering what the maximum tyre width you'd recommend for these is? I have a set of 700x40 sort-of-knobbly (Clement X'Plor MSO) tyres on the bike in question currently.

Cheers,
James
Hi, the maximum recommended tyre width is 42mm. Clement X'Plor MSO tyres come up a little larger than the stated 40mm so they will be very close. Thanks
Will these fit WTB 650b 47 Horizon?
By
12 Jun 2018
Hi

Wondering about fit on WTB Horizons, will these fit, if not can you recommend an alternative?
It is quite possible, but it will depend on the rim the tyre is fitted to as its quite normal to come up differently on different rims. Best bet is to pop to a local bike shop with your bike to test fit some guards.

Thanks
