Details
- A lightweight modern road rim with a 18 mm internal width for wider road or cyclocross tyres
- Low profile and carefully load-optimised design produces a rim that, despite its extra width, is the same weight as many narrower premium rims from other brands
- Asymmetrical rim profile is intended for use on the rear, paired with an symmetrical rim on the front, off-set rim profile improves spoke angles and allows for more even tension, strengthening and stiffening the wheel
- Can be run either with standard clinchers or road tubeless tyres using DT Swiss tubeless tape and valves
- Comes packaged with DT Swiss Squorx ProHead nipples and PHR washers to complete your build
- Strength Boost Welding Technology creates a perfectly welded join for a durable, reliable rim
- Machined sidewalls for powerful braking on a consistent sidewall surface
- Wear indicators show the extent of sidewall wear
- PHR washers and convex Squorx nipples naturally align perfectly with your chosen spokes, increasing stiffness and durability with no weight penalty over traditional eyeleted rims
- Unique process for the black coating produces a tough and durable finish
- Suggested maximum system weight of 110 KG, those looking for a rim for heavier riders or for mixed terrain riding are advised to consider the suitably tough RR 511's
- Presta drilling
- ERD: 601
- Outer width: 21.5mm, Inner Width: 18mm
- Height: 21mm
- Max spoke tension: 1200N
- Weight: 435grams
- If built by us we will use Brass nipples due to durability issues we have experienced.

Overall Product Rating 4 / 5
Great wheels, but brass nipples required.

I recommend this product
ConsBrass nipples required, not the best option for tubeless, in my experience.
ProsLight and stiff, well made, good climbing wheel.
I've had the disc version of these wheels on a bespoke steel bike for about 4 years. While they are excellent, I had what I assume is the same problem as yourselves, with several aluminium nipples on the 28 spoke back wheel tearing. I should add that this surprised the bike builder but in any case, brass nipples fixed the problem. The other issue I've had is that I couldn't get tubeless to work reliably (mounting/seating issues-once on & inflated they were fine) but this may be as much a tyre issue as a rim issue and both may have moved on since I reverted to tubes a year or so ago.

what spoke length with 105 hub?
By Akito

Hello,
Can I use this rim with the following hub?
Shimano 105 FH-R7000 Road Rear Hub 130mm - Black
If so, what length spoke should I use for drive and non drive side? (I will probably use these https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/spokes/248-131614g-dt-alpine-iii-triple-butted-stainless-steel-spoke-12-mm-brass-nipple-pack-of-6/?sessionid=9005a785e16bfdf637f0f3818aba2c8e436cec23)
I have some 288mm spokes leftover, would they be suitable?

provided you have the corect drilling, yes. You can calculate the lengths here:

The Alpine III spokes are 2.3mm at the head, a little big for normal Shimano hubs
