The Flyer and its ladies model Flyer S are classically sprung saddles for long distance trekking and touring. It is directly descending from the B66 Champion, first featured in the 1927 catalogue. Sharing the same leather tops of the B17 models, they combine the comfort of these popular models with the extra suspension granted by two rear springs. Both are available with tubular steel rivets or with hand hammered copper rivets under the names of Flyer Special and Flyer S Special.

ConsExpensive. Not silent

ProsEfficiently smoothes out uneven road surfaces and bumps

I've had Brooks saddles in the past but never with springs. I carefully used the ‘proofide' as soon as I got it and again just before todays ride. First time out with this new saddle today: 3 hours of back roads with extremely bumpy surfaces. Result: instead of having to lift off the saddle for the bumps I found it just absorbed them. NO saddle soreness even after 3 hours first ride - a nice surprise! On rough ground the springs do make some noise: it's not loud, but it's there when the road surfaces are uneven which was the case for most of my ride today. I could hear the springs working almost constantly (it reminded me of a honeymoon couple next door) but this gives you an idea of the state of the roads! However I found I could stay seated where previously I'd had to lift up for the worse bumps. It just smoothed them out. I did the same route last week and the difference between my old saddle and this one was night and day. Fantastic saddle. It genuinely brought a smile to my face.

Gorgeous looking saddle. Springs for when you hit that unseen pothole on a dark wet night.
