A development of the original Rido design with rounding of the 'Y' shape for greater comfort, with especially engineered new upholstered areas to please everyone. Not only has the 'first touch firmness' of the original RIDO been addressed (and that initial 'getting used to the feel of the saddle' period now more-or-less totally negated) but now the feel beneath the sit bones has been 'softened up'. Now featuring the new option of Cro-Mo rails.

I own 4 Rido R2 saddles. I suffered from chronic nerve and groin pain until I found the R2. I spent hundreds on different saddles in the process of trying to find one that worked for me. I can't recommend strongly enough for those who experience pain when riding. This design absolutely does the trick for significantly less money than any other saddle on the market.

ProsReduced pressure, reduce tailbone pain, longer rides with less pain
I've recently been riding my bike more often for my morning workout, but by mid ride was feeling intense pressure on my sit bones and pain around my tailbone, irritating an old injury there. I decided to try the Rido R2, to see if it would help, and I'm honestly blown away. The seat arrived quickly (shipping to the US), and after my first ride I knew I'd love this seat. Went for a 13 mile ride over the weekend, after multiple 6 mile rides during the week on this seat, and still, no pain, no achiness, no "oof" when you get off the bike. I LOVE THIS SADDLE.

Rido R2 saddle - I am awaiting a prostate operation and needed a saddle which didn't put pressure on my perineum so I could still ride my bike.
Happy to report this saddle does that exact job! OK, it's a little firm and you have to get the right tilt and learn not to slip forwards but this only took a couple of short rides. Very pleased with this purchase, highly recommended!!

ProsComfort, can be used by different sized people
Well when I first bought this two years ago, I thought it was superb - extremely comfortable for both me and my wife. On comfort value it is exceptional. However, I've knocked two stars off because the saddle rail recently snapped along one side. We weigh 13.5 stone / 11.5 stone. The seat is still in great condition but useless and after enquiring, Rido do not sell separate saddle rails. So I bought another from SJS. Brilliant comfort but poor quality saddle rail if it only lasts two years.

Consstiff, long hard nose, uncomfortable
Prosnone
I don't often review anything I buy but I had to review this saddle. I have, like many cyclists, suffered in the under carriage area and have spent a small fortune on various saddles. I use the Selle smp on my cross bikes and am quite happy with them, although I am not on the seat for considerable periods of time and they are expensive. I was looking for a cheaper alternative for my turbo trainer and one that I could stay seated on. After much adjustment and several sessions I have to say this saddle is useless, hard padding that is difficult to stay on and worst of all a really hard, as well as long, nose waiting to assault ones tender bits when you slip forward. Complete waste of money!

ProsMight be your rescuer
If you get prostate problems, a common problem for men over 50 this might be your rescuer. For me it was a rescuer and I´m very happy that I can keep on with my big interest for cycling.
It is though in the beginning a different feeling on the saddle compared to the ordinary saddle, but I got used to it very fast.

ProsHappy man
Bought this for the hubby as the roads are very back here in the country. Bought and tried other types of saddles to no avail. The R2 once set up has proved it's worth, comfort and no more sore bum syndrome, Hubby now walks in after his bike ride up the hills and on bad roads with a smile, rather than crawling in with pain. Very pleased with purchase

Prosdramatic reduction in crotch numbness
Over the years I'd been cycling less and less, because I was having more and more problems with numbness and persistent pain in the crotch area.

I was seriously considering giving up cycling altogether, but tried experimenting with different saddles as a last chance. A friend recommended this one, which seemed to fit with my understanding of what might help.

It certainly helped me! It takes a bit of getting used to: it's not the same to ride on as a traditionally shaped saddle. It left me a bit saddle sore at first, but it's the Ok sort of saddle sore that gets better the more you ride, not the terrible sort of bicycle seat neuropathy that gets worse the more you ride.

Thanks to this saddle, I'm cycling again, and I can still feel my bits. Thank you!

ConsEveryone will ask you about it
ProsComfortable once you are used to it
After getting a mention in the CTC magazine, I decided to give this is a go on my long distance (all day rides) machine. Once you get over the shape and start using it, you can feel how to set it up correctly. It works fine, is nicely padded and it doesn't transmit much road buzz.
If you don't get along with a leather saddle (still my preference) then this is a good alternative. And for the price, somewhat of a bargain.

ProsIt works
I bought the R2 after reading about the adverse effects of standard saddles on parts of my anatomy I want to keep intact! Normal saddles would cause those parts to be numb after an hour in the saddle. I have just completed a 6 hour sportive and the saddle was excellent! Not only was it comfortable, I had no numb parts! And, someone else mentioned this, I had absolutely no back pain.

Bought this out of despair, my 5th saddle, having not found one that left me numb after cycling for a couple of hours or so. Having visited the docs for a check up this was my last resort or stop cycling. On arrival the saddle looks unusual and even putting it on the bike my confidence was low as to my expectations. However in the last 2 weeks i have done 200 miles on this and no numbness whatsoever its nothing short of amazing. Also and this is quite bizarre the back ache that i used to get after around 20 or so miles has stopped as well dont understand that one but it has so all in all cant quite believe the results. You have to tinker with it at the start i lowered the saddle by an inch to compensate for the pads and tilted the nose up a fraction as i kept slipping off hence the 4 for ease of use

I had to email them to find out when my item was shipped because they forgot to send a tracking number. However the problem was corrected immediately and the item arrived a few days later as described. I have not had a chance yet to use my new saddle so no comment on comfort. It does seem to change the pressure points when sitting on it, so thats a good sign.

ProsBEST COMFORTABLE SADDLE Ive tried, and I have tried many....
I ride Audax. I ride about 200 miles a week, usually on a Brooks. But after 60 miles or so, I get severe pain in my sit bones, feels like a hot knife getting stabbed into me, causing electric shock down my leg. After a 200km ride, I was unable to sit down anywhere, bike or no bike for several days. With some skepism, I tried the RIDO 2. Well, what a difference, I still get the odd nip, but just at the start of a ride, then my rear settles into saddle, and at last, I can think about my cycling, the views and my time, and not my sit bones. I am buying the posh version once its out for my hubby and another 3 for my other bikes! FABULOUS

Prosno discomfort on longer rides
The Rido R2 is quitely simply the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden on. Yes, like other cyclists, it took a little time for me to get used to it, but that was minimal. I now have this saddle on both my road bike and my cross bike, and I doubt if I'll ever ride on another saddle. I like knowing that when I go out for a longer ride, after 25 miles or so my buns won't be killing me.

ProsComfort, keeps well clear of tailbone
Both my wife and I have some tailbone issues and the Rido saddle once set up is well clear of the tail bone area. It takes a little getting use to and I've found that the nose of the saddle has to be tilted up a little before it works well for me.
But we've now changed all our bikes, including our tandem to these saddles and are very happy with them.

Not one for completing surveys /reviews etc felt I must comment on this amazing saddle. I restarted cycling in my early 50's and for the last 4 years dispite wearing padded tights have always suffered some discomfort from my saddle. I have just completed a painfree 64 mile club ride at the weekend and whole heartedly recommend this saddle to any one suffering from similar problems.
Please ensure all small allan key self taping screws attaching seat pad are tightened before fixing to bike as I lost a screw after first ride out.

ProsComfort, control
My wife has tried a number of different ergonomic saddles for women, and this is by far the best solution. None of the other saddles she has tried have been right, but the Rido saddle was comfortable from the first ride. Some of the other saddles that eliminate the horn portion, don't allow for the kind of control for your bicycle that the Rido saddle allows you to maintain. I've given it a try as well, and I might have to buy another one for my commuting bike. There is no dealer for this saddle in Canada, and ordering from SJS Cycles was quite easy. The customer service was also very helpful.

ProsBlissful relief!
What a relief! I'm a 41 year old woman and hadn't cycled for a few years. Decided to get fit and bought a bike....the saddle that came on it became soooo uncomfortable after two 15 mile excursions that I felt like I'd had sex change with the bruising I experienced (maybe too much info but no exaggeration!) We Googled "comfiest saddle in the world" and the RIDO came up....and it was a miracle....even with my previous wounds this was such a comfortable ride, still is! I'd highly recommend it. My partner got one too and he's happy too! Brilliant!!

Consneeds to be slightly softer on bum bones
ProsFits all bits
At 58 all your bones start to give out some form of ache or other as well as body parts that take punishment from everyday life. My rear end was no exception to this after riding my bike on the road for leisure and exercise purposes. This got to the point where I knew that severe bruising seemingly was taking place to that area of the posterior i didn't want it to, so much so that I did feel like abolishing the bike to the garage and taking up a new sport.
I thought i would have one more try at finding a suitable saddle and eventually came across the Rido 2. Although i haven't had many trips out recently, it does seem to be doing the trick to the point of me really enjoying the bike once more. I need a little more time on it to really give an honest opinion.

ProsNo coccyx pain!
Bought this as I suffer from coccyx pain that greatly increases whilst cycling. Felt weird at first..felt I was tipping forward..you have to experiment to find the best seating position but once found (like Australian commuter above) I don't get that awful pain in coccyx!! bit sore in the new pressure places when you get on the saddle the next day but soon goes..and no discomfort really after ride.. definitely takes time to get used to it but well worth persisting. I rode on a standard saddle the other day and was surprised that I found that one strange now!! I thought I would have to give up cycling...but not now!!!
My husband has an arthritic hip and is a big cyclist..this has made alot of difference to him..much less pain and no numbness anymore..he is liking it the more he uses it!

I have some prostate problems and "discovered" Rido saddles and after reading about them I ordered one. Fitted and used for 9 x 35km daily commute over last fortnight. On first ride, I stopped and adjusted after 500m, after another km and another twice before reaching work and considered ditching by the end of the day. But as it certainly removed the uncomfortable pressure I sought to avoid, I continued - by the end of the second day if felt OK and by the end of the third I liked it - and by the end of the first week (about 150km) I knew I would not go back to my old saddle!
