The USE shim system allows you to fit a seat post into virtually any frame size. Our shims are made to 100mm length and are longer than other shims on the market giving your seat post much better support inside the frame. All shims are designed with a "top lip" to stop the shim sliding into the frame.

Shims are available in Aluminum and Thermo Plastic, despite the latter being a lighter solution its material characteristics limit the thickness of the ID - OD measurements. Aluminum is used to achieve the thinnest shims as it is a more robust material.

Rolled Aluminum shim - the very thinnest shims are rolled from sheet metal. 25.4mm shims need to be so thin as they are etched down in acid to the correct tolerance and are too thin to anodise (show as silver).

Machined Aluminum shim - machined to very high tolerances from 6082 T6 Aluminum and then black anodised to protect from corrosion.

Machined Plastic shim - larger size shims are machined to very high tolerances from "filled" engineering thermoplastic UPVC. This keeps the weight down, as the shims get thicker.

Shim design characteristics may affect weight.
Weights are accurate to the nearest gram.
Shims allow a rider to adjust the ID of a frame for a range of different sized posts.

ProsStopped slipping seat post

My new seat post fitted with a Humpert shim was slipping even with Finishline Fiber Grip. I contacted SJS Cycles and they recommended a USE plastic shim. I ordered the shim and even though I think it is aluminium (31.6) not plastic it has stopped the slipping.

ProsWell made aluminium, good strong top lip to stop it sliding down your seat tube.

Hi, I have a 27.2 seatpost but the coating has come off it meaning it slippes. I have used a shim made from a coke cak that works ok. But when traveling this is not ideal as its too flimsy. What do you recommend, a 28.6 or 27.2mm shim that is 0.5mm thick? thanks

Could i use such a shim on external seat post of dropper- too stop it sliding down into tube when my 90kg impacts saddle causing post slip.? it seems a good idea.? i would need ID=27.2 and OD= maximum possible .

Can I use an aluminium shim to get my 25.4mm seat post to fit snugly in a frame meant for a 26.4mm seat post? It's a 1976 Dawes Tourer and I don't really want a modern seat post. Also if it will work, which length should I get and can you send it quickly? Thanks. Tom

according to venzo frame specs, the seat post diameter is 31.6 and the clamp diameter is 34.9 , i want use either the promax or humpbert seat posts of 27.2
