ConsOnly if circlip is uncooperative.
ProsNecessary and simple to improve drive train
Replacement consumable part to complement new chain. Contains all the parts necessary and instructions for fitting. Circlip fastening can fight back.
Smooth gearing.

ConsLockring hard to fit
ProsMakes a new chain run trouble free
Brompton recommend fitting new sprockets with a new chain. Getting the old ones off is fairly easy - I used a small screwdriver to prise the ‘lockring’ off. getting the new one back on took perseverance and a few tries.

ProsDoes the job
As part of the maintenance, one needs to change the sprockets, this package makes it easy, with all the parts included. I think they should have included a replacement chain so all the key transmission parts are replaced.

What pliers , tools, etc do you recomend for removal and replacement of the lock ring when fitting new sprockets
A small flat head screwdriver and your thumb!

What chain size do I use with the Brompton sprocket set - 1/2" x 1/8" or 1/2" x 3/32"?
