ProsLightweight, quality item.
I felt the need to raise my handlebars for a more comfortable riding position and after careful research I chose this stem. I’m delighted with the result, I only wish I did this sooner!

ProsIdeal for shortening oversize frame
Perfect for shortening the reach and raising the bar height on a borrowed oversize frame. Happy to have such a good range of stem sizes from SJSC (and suitable size filters so you can find them - unlike some other providers!)

ProsVery, good, price, well, built,
The perfect answer to just raise my bars a fraction, without over doing the reach of the bars, and making the bike uncomfortable, or over reaching my money!

The price was very good, and the stem was dispatched, and arrived within 3 days, which at Christmas time is pretty good!

How is the 60 mm measured - top or bottom length - and what is the standard angle of rise
By

I have a 2017 Surly LHT. The specs say the stem was a Kalloy AS-009, 26 mm. Is this the correct item.

I measured the short (top) of the headtube bracket to the handlebar bracket and that is 60 mm. So I assume that this is the correct item. But I am not sure how to measure the angle of rise correctly.

Thanks.
The angle of rise is approx 35MM. When measuring you need to measure from the steerer tube center, to bar clamp center.

I have a Surley LHT 58cm frame and wish to reduce the length of stem to 60mm. Thanks

Length differences in mm

I've got a size 90 fitted on my 590L Nomad and want to bring my bars a bit nearer to me. Would the size 60 option bring my bars 30mm closer?
Thanks
The 60mm option will reduce the length of the stem by 30mm, remember the high angle of the stem means this is 30mm towards the stem clamp, not directly toward the rider.

Could this (safely) be used on top of a stem riser

Could this (safely) be used on top of this stem riser https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/stems/humpert-ahead-stem-raiser-1-18-inch-steerer-to-1-18-inch-stem-black/
(the aim being to make the drop handlebars of my touring bike higher and closer to the saddle.)
Yes, in most cases, this would be perfectly safe.

How Tall Is The Clamp Area?
By
20 Nov 2016
I am using a 1" steerer so need to buy a shim, how long is the clamping area on the steerer end? (how much space does it take up on the steerer)
Hi,

This stem takes up 40mm of the fork's steerer tube.

Thanks.
