I recommend this product
ConsRequires initial setup, no tension data for bladed spokes
ProsGood value
I bought this as I wanted something more accurate than the overpriced Park Tool gauge, but didn't want to pay for the overpriced DT Swiss or Sapim tensiometers.
Overall it's a decent piece of kit. Solidly made and easily serviceable. No case supplied so be aware you'll need somewhere to store it. The dial gauge wasn't zeroed on mine...probably due to it being shipped in a just big enough cardboard box. Zeroing it is straightforward though. As it needed zeroing I removed the dial gauge entirely to test it, looks cheap but is accurate.
The spring could do with being fixed at both ends as opposed to just one...if it gets nudged accidentally then the unit will need recalibrating. The tension guide appears to be for plain gauge or butted spokes only- if you want to use it for bladed (as I do) you'll need to calibrate it. But overall it's good value.
Special mention to Parcelforce, texted on Thursday to say it would be delivered on Friday…finally turned up on Tuesday. Priority delivery?!
