The BOB Yak/Ibex standard fork is designed for 26" mountain bike wheels & 700c road wheels. If you ever intend on using the trailer with 29" mountain bike wheels or 700c wheels with full wrap fenders, you'll want the Yak/Ibex 28 (longer fork). If you have a Santana Tandem then there is also a Yak Black Santana Fork available for use.

BOB trailer forks include a pin and lanyard attachment system & have the added feature of pin storage to keep the pins secure when the trailer is off the bike.

Good upgrade for old 26

Constad fiddly to unscrew the threaded rod as requires a spanner at both ends..

Prossolid and secure

I've got an old EBC (steel copy of the BOB Yak more or less). Looked to upgrade the trailer for my 29r and 27.5 wheels, can report fits well, locked on solidly and heaps of clearance. I did also purchase a BOB QR to ensure the folks clamped on OK.

I have a 29er and a 29 bike packing bikes and needed this to fit. A little unsure whether I would get the clearance on the 29x3.0 tyre but l can happily report there is plenty of room ??

Yak or Ibex

Are the Yak and Ibex 28 front forks identical apart from the colour ? They have different part nos but apart from colour look the same.

The colour is the only difference, we are informed by supplier that these are cross compatible.

Follow on question - length of fork hinge?

Trying to work out out if this is compatible with my EBC steel trailer as previously discussed. It has a fork that is 26cm long from cargo base to top hole. The fork slots into that gap. Secured with hooked rod and nut. Is this approx. 26cm in length, as well, do you think? If so, think it's worth a shot. If difference in length, less likely! Sorry for the trouble!

This dimension on the BOB trailer is 261mm so it should fit into that space okay.

I'd have to check dimensions, the original trailer is like the Adventure CT-1 trailer with QR replacement attachments, wondered if I could swap the 26" fork for this and see if it works?

Unfortunately as we are not familiar with EBC trailers we would have no way of knowing if this would work or not. You'd be welcome to return it if it doesn't fit as long as it shows no signs of fitting.

Fat Bike Fit

Can you tell me if this will allow me to fit my BOB Yak to my Surly Pugsley with offset rear wheel with 4" tyres?

Hi,

This is just a longer version of the tow arm, so although it would mean your tyre should in theory sit at a wider point there may still not be enough clearance. We don't have any fat bikes here so we are unable to test this either I'm afraid.

Bob Yak Repair

Hi,
I'm considering a repair challenge for a BIB Yak trailer that has suffered considerable damage from a car impact. It's quite 'bent' at the front pivoting arm and it's hinge with the trailer frame (so is the bike I might add!)

I'm trying to figure out the best way to fix it to minimise costs. Can you please tell me:

1. the overall length between the faces of the top and bottom nylon bushes on this replacement tow arm?
2. if the chrome 'through bolt hollow rod' is meant to be a tight or a looser fit in the nylon bearing?
3. what the width between the inside faces of the tow arm dropout hooks is supposed to be?

I'm basically trying to decide between buying a whole new tow arm unit or to try to bend it back into shape with some replacement bearing parts.

Hi,

The overall length between the faces of the Nylon bushes is 261mm. The bolt through hollow chrome rod is meant to be a tight fit to the nylon bushings. The dropout spacing is 187mm.
