Premium mobility for design enthusiasts. Urban profile packed with the latest technology. The perfect symbiosis between light-rolling and puncture protection is reflected in this speciality tyre designed for the City Jungle.

PureGrip Compound is derived from an activated Silica compound and is a good example of how Continental integrate customer feedback continuously into their research and development. This mixture's technology compliments the BlackChili Compound. The name PureGrip does exactly what the name says: exceptionally good grip and durability are the distinguishing features of this compound.

The new SafetyPro Breaker designed from nylon textile. Cross-woven textile fiber netting that is simultaneously robust and flexible. Maximum puncture protection with minimal added weight. The risk of punctures resulting from glass or sharp stones is substantially reduced.

Suitable for E-Bikes: For Continental's eBike tyre they fall back on over 100 years' experience with moped and motorcycle tyres. All of their city/trekking tires are rated to a standard speed of at least 25 km/h. Those tires marked e25 are also certified for E-Bikes. With their high quality structure, puncture protection is high and the rolling resistance is low offering protection from premature wear brought about by the additional driving force.

May not fit older Allesa rims

ConsDoesn’t filter older rims very well.

ProsFast, lightweight

Good lightweight fast rolling tyre but bead is slightly too big for older Brompton Alessa alloy rims, meaning it blows out under pressure. Had to put back an older Raleigh Record tyre which seems to fit correctly.

Read other reviews, which appear to be positive. I am a serious Brompton commuter, so keep a spare tyre in case. This one is for the cupboard, much lighter that the Schwalbe ones fitted at present.

Destroyed previous urban contact when hitting a pothole containing broken glass. That was the first puncture situation in four years of daily commutes. Swift delivery from SJS. So much easier to fit than the S M . Here's hoping for another long spell of riding without issue.

ProsFirst class tyres

Bought a pair of these to replace some Schwalbe Marathon's on the Brompton. Much lighter and more supple with an excellent grip. Easy to install and the seat really easily. Time will tell if puncture resistance is as good as other reviews, great so far! Probably get another pair when other Brompton tyres need replacing.

ProsGood on a newer Brompton

Excellent on my 2007 'Mark 4' Bromptom. Tried fitting a pair to a 1998 'Mark 2'. There is a very subtle different on the older rim. The bead on the rim is fatter. Te result is that the bead on these tyres doesn't get held under the bead on the rim. My exprience trying two tyres on each wheel was of the tyre popping off the rim at about 50psi. Great on the Mark 4 though.

ProsValue for money. Great delivery times. Brilliant knowledge.

Well SJS have done it again. I'm rebuilding a Moulton MK3. I've needed many bits and pieces and not once have they faltered. The latest items are my 2 tyres and inner tubes. First time I'd used Presta valves.... brilliant. I simply cannot fault SJS.

ProsPuncture resistant, good ride, grip and feel. Affordable versus other Brompton options

Having ridden every other variety of Brompton tyre (stock, marathons/ , kojaks, the flashy tanwall Ones) these stand out as the best compromise option for daily commuting and all round riding.

They ride much, much smoother than marathons. They are not quite as lovely to ride as Schwalbe Ones but are not far off: grip and feel are pretty good.

And they are much more robust: in my experience, very solidly puncture resistant. Not quite as impregnable as Marathons, but the minor trade off for the ride quality is worth it.

Happily run at 65 front and 75 rear. Could go a bit lower but not much, could definitely run higher but would be less comfortable.

So a great best of both worlds tyre.

Should add that one tyre had a defect and SJS were very quick to offer a replacement.

Rolling resistance & puncture resistance

Hi, do you have enough experience with these to compare them to Schwalbe Marathons and/or Racers in terms of rolling resistance and puncture resistance - in 349/35 (Brompton fit)

Cannot get these to sit properly on Alesa alloy 219 rims

The bead seems too long for the rims on my old Brompton. It’s impossible to seat it on the rim without it popping out somewhere else.

SJS Customer Service:

We've sold 100's of these tyres without issue, the problem must be that in one part the bead is falling into the well of the rim allowing extra bead to fall off further round. The only other possibility (assuming the tyre is not defective...which seems inconceivable) is that the rim is worn, are the braking surfaces dished or flat? RT

No, just the normal, put the bead into the well of the rim so you can get the bead over WITHOUT using levers which may damage the tyre and/or rim RT 100420
